Actual compensation is output-based and depends on completed tasks.\nAbout the Role\nWe are seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers to contribute expert-level software engineering knowledge to the development and evaluation of AI systems.\nYou will create reinforcement learning environments that test AI models on realistic software engineering problems, including debugging, feature implementation, codebase refactoring, and performance optimization.\nEach task involves creating a reproducible environment and a reliable reference solution that can be used to evaluate how effectively an AI model solves a complex engineering problem.\nNo prior AI experience is required. The role is focused on applying strong software engineering judgment and practical development expertise.\nWhat You’ll Do\nCreate realistic reinforcement learning environments for software engineering tasks.\n\nDevelop reproducible environments and golden reference solutions for engineering problems.\n\nContribute expert-level code samples, debugging approaches, and development insights.\n\nWork with codebases written in Python 3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.\n\nDiagnose and resolve complex software defects.\n\nIdentify and address performance bottlenecks.\n\nImplement robust features with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and sound engineering practices.\n\nRefactor legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.\n\nDocument technical reasoning, implementation decisions, debugging strategies, and solution approaches.\n\nReview and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions for correctness and clarity.\n\nHelp ensure software engineering tasks and reference solutions accurately reflect real-world development practices.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nSignificant hands-on expertise in at least one of:\nPython 3\n\nJava\n\nRust\n\nGo\n\nC++\n\nTypeScript\n\nStrong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and core software engineering principles.\n\nProven ability to debug complex systems and resolve challenging software defects.\n\nExperience optimizing software performance and identifying bottlenecks.\n\nExperience refactoring large or complex codebases, including legacy systems.\n\nTrack record of implementing and delivering meaningful software features.\n\nAbility to reason about software problems systematically and develop reproducible solutions.\n\nStrong technical documentation and communication skills.\n\nAbility to clearly explain engineering decisions and problem-solving approaches.\n\nExperience working on cross-functional software projects.\n\nAI Experience\nPrevious AI or machine learning experience is not required.\nWhat matters most is your ability to apply strong software engineering judgment to complex coding, debugging, refactoring, and performance optimization
