Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience - combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid, full-time internship based in the Waterford office, with flexible working hours. The expected start date is January 2027.
What you will do:
Work with OpenShift/Kubernetes resources (custom resources, operators, API routes) that back the GenAI Studio
Build and test backend integrations, including REST API consumption, MCP server connectivity, and model serving endpoints
Debug issues across the stack, from cluster-level resource problems to frontend rendering
Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, e2e)
Contribute to upstream open source development on GitHub: PRs, code reviews, issue triage
Build frontend features in React/TypeScript when needed
Participate in team ceremonies: daily standups, weekly 360 team syncs, release planning
What you will bring:
You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from January till August 2027
Working knowledge of written and spoken English
Some programming experience (TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar)
Interest in learning containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native development
Comfort using the command line
Interest in learning new technologies and problem-solving
The following are considered a plus:
Hands-on experience with containers (Docker/Podman) or Kubernetes/OpenShift
Familiarity with REST APIs and how services communicate
Exposure to React or a similar frontend framework
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
