The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer works as part of a collaborative team that oversees the design of the control systems and selects instruments and equipment for the SHINE facility.\nHybrid work arrangement will be considered.\nThe base salary range for this position is $83,000-$155,250 per year plus a comprehensive benefit package. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nSpecific duties and responsibilities of the I&C Engineer include, but are not limited to:\nLead interfaces between stakeholders and the I&C team.\nProvide input on the schedule tasks for length and effort required to create design products.\nDrive decisions on vendor requests, changes, and updates to equipment and programming.\nBecome the responsible engineer for a subset of the I&C equipment, guiding it through the design, procurement and construction process while ensuring it meets design requirements.\nOversee the development of digital and analog control systems, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), and data acquisition systems (DAQ), by performing reviews of vendor deliverables.\nWork collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to select instruments to measure process variables in the process systems in the SHINE facility. \nProvide an interface with the Auxiliary Systems Group to coordinate the power distribution to I&C equipment.\nPrepare instrument specifications, calculations, and test plans to support the design, new construction, testing, commissioning, in-field troubleshooting and operation of the future SHINE medical isotope production facility.\nDesign and implement instrument cable routing, conduit and raceway design, installation drawings, and loop diagrams.\nDuties as assigned\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nKnowledge in I&C systems, hardware, software, theory of operation, environmental equipment, seismic qualification (EQ) testing and plant start-ups \nFinalization of specifications and design documents for vendor implementation on the plant control system and safety related systems\nAbility to think strategically and take decisive action once the necessary information has been gathered.\nAbility to critically evaluate information and the boldness to ask questions when things don’t make sense.\nThe following are considered a plus:\nExperience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, and monitoring. \nKnowledge of nuclear safety related systems desired but not required (NQA-1).\nUnderstanding of appropriate cable shielding, type, radiation tolerance, and separation by safety train.\nWorking Conditions and Physical Effort:\nRequires frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, grasping, and reaching above the shoulders and below the knees.\nModerate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 40 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. \nFine motor coordination and strong depth perception is beneficial.\nWork involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. \nWork environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. \nEmployees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily.
