Its purpose is to make Engineering and Cloud Operations execution legible, commitments durable, and leadership time scalable-primarily through clarity, technical depth, and strategic influence.\nAs Director, Engineering Operations, you will build and evolve the operating system of the CTO organization while steering the AI transformation of our engineering and cloud infrastructure operations. You will work across Engineering, Cloud Ops, and product partners to create confidence in delivery, surface technical risks early, drive modern AI-enabled engineering workflows, and empower leaders to focus on long-term strategy and architectural outcomes.\nThis is a highly visible role for a deeply technical operator who can move comfortably between software architecture, cloud platforms, AI-driven automation, data, and organizational dynamics. You will succeed not by adding bureaucracy, but by introducing intelligent, modern structures for better architectural decisions, clear ownership, and scalable execution.\nWhat you’ll do:\nOwn the Engineering operating system\nDesign, run, and continuously improve the CTO organization’s operating cadence, including quarterly business reviews, initiative and program reviews, goal-setting cycles, leadership forums, and internal communications.\n\nEstablish lightweight, reusable standards for agendas, pre-reads, synthesis, status, risk and confidence language, ownership, dependencies, decision capture, and follow-through.\n\nTurn fragmented execution signals into concise, decision-ready narratives for the CTO and Engineering leadership.\n\nEnsure forums drive decisions and tradeoffs-not simply status updates.\n\nCreate execution visibility and confidence\nMake Engineering priorities, commitments, dependencies, and risks visible across the company.\n\nImprove the quality and timeliness of early risk detection and escalation.\n\nUse data and qualitative signals together to distinguish real progress from activity or optimism.\n\nAlign priorities, people, and investment\nPartner with the CTO, Engineering leaders, Finance, People, Product, and other functions to connect strategy, priorities, capacity, headcount, funding, and operating norms.\n\nSupport workforce and headcount planning, financial and investment alignment, and organizational planning with clear analysis and decision materials.\n\nImprove cross-geo and cross-functional operating norms so expectations are explicit rather than assumed.\n\nProvide leverage on strategic and special initiatives\nBring structure to ambiguous, cross-cutting, or high-risk initiatives that do not yet have a natural program home.\n\nSupport high-impact company priorities such as major transformations, IPO readiness, M&A diligence, or other initiatives requiring CTO-level coordination.\n\nKnow when to stay involved, when to escalate, and when to exit so Engineering Operations does not become a permanent dependency.\n\nBuild durable operating muscle\nInstitutionalize good judgment into reusable systems, templates, and standards.\n\nUse automation, analytics, and AI-assisted workflows thoughtfully to improve signal quality and operating leverage.\n\nSocialize changes effectively and build adoption through clarity, usefulness, and trust-not compliance theater.\n\nDrive AI Transformation in Engineering and Cloud Operations\nArchitect and execute strategic initiatives that integrate AI technologies into software development lifecycles, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud operations to accelerate innovation and developer efficiency.\n\nEstablish frameworks and benchmarks to evaluate the adoption, effectiveness, and impact of AI tools across engineering and cloud infrastructure teams.\n\nLead cross-functional programs focused on automated observability, AI-driven incident management, and intelligent cloud resource optimization.\n\nWhat will you need to have?\nDeep technical background in software engineering, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure operations alongside experience in a strategic leadership or business operations role.\n\nA demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous, cross-functional problems into clear decisions, ownership, operating mechanisms, and measurable outcomes.\n\nExperience designing and running operating cadences, business reviews, planning processes, leadership forums, or comparable mechanisms that improve execution.\n\nThe ability to influence without relying on formal authority and to build trust across geographies, functions, and levels of the organization.\n\nComfort working in a fast-changing environment with incomplete information and competing priorities.\n\nExtra great if you have:\nExperience supporting a CTO, VP Engineering, or comparable technology executive in a high-growth or transformation environment.\n\nExperience with annual planning, portfolio management, headcount planning, financial modeling, or investment reviews.\n\nExperience supporting IPO readiness, M&A diligence, organizational transformation, or other enterprise-scale change.\n\nExperience building operating standards, metrics, dashboards, or lightweight automation that materially improves decision quality.\n\nHands-on experience designing or deploying AI tooling, LLM integrations, AI-assisted coding, or automated ops platforms within large-scale engineering or cloud environments.\n\nWe give back to our employees:\nOur culture is what makes Redis a fun and rewarding place to work. Actual compensation may vary and is dependent on various factors, including a candidate’s work location, qualifications, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of Redis’ total compensation and competitive benefits package, which may include 401(k), unlimited time off, learning and development opportunities, and comprehensive health and wellness benefits. This role may include discretionary bonuses, stock options, commuter benefits based on location, or a commission plan. Salary history is not used in compensation package decisions.
