As our Senior Cyber Security Operations Analyst, you'll take the lead in managing and evolving Council's cyber security operations capability, driving threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management and security assurance across a diverse technology landscape. Working with modern cyber security technologies and aligned to the Australian Government's Essential Eight framework, you'll play a key role in strengthening Council's cyber resilience while partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver continuous improvement, security awareness and operational excellence.\nIf this sound like you, we invite you to apply for the Senior Cyber Security Operations Analyst position at Redland City Council!\nYour responsibilities will include:\nLead cyber operations - Coordinate Council's day-to-day cyber security operations, monitoring and response activities.\n\nProtect and defend - Investigate security alerts, suspicious activity and cyber threats, providing timely response and mitigation strategies.\n\nDrive incident response - Lead cyber incident triage, investigations, recovery activities and lessons learned.\n\nStrengthen security controls - Continually uplift Council's security posture in line with Essential Eight and industry best practices.\n\nProvide trusted advice - Deliver expert guidance on cyber risks, vulnerabilities, new technologies and software implementations.\n\nAssess and reduce risk - Conduct security reviews, risk assessments and control assurance activities across diverse technology environments.\n\nOptimise security technologies - Manage and enhance security platforms including Microsoft 365 security services, endpoint protection, identity and cloud security.\n\nBuild cyber awareness - Support organisation-wide education, phishing response initiatives and cyber security capability uplift.\n\nSkills and experience:\nExtensive experience in cyber security operations within complex enterprise environments.\n\nStrong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 security technologies, including Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID, Purview and Azure.\n\nExperience leading cyber incident response, investigations, threat management and security monitoring activities.\n\nDemonstrated capability in vulnerability management, threat hunting and cyber risk assessment.\n\nProven ability to assess new technologies, software solutions and security risks, providing practical business-focused recommendations.\n\nSound knowledge of cyber security frameworks including ASD Essential Eight, ASD ISM, ISO 27001 and NIST Cyber Security Framework.\n\nExperience working with cloud platforms, network security technologies, endpoint protection and SIEM solutions.\n\nExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable advice.\n\nAbility to influence outcomes, build strong relationships and drive continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nRelevant cyber security certifications and experience in local government or large, complex organisations will be highly regarded.\n\nMake sure to read the full Position Description before applying - it outlines everything you need to tailor your resume and cover letter.\nWhy this role stands out:\nLead cyber operations that protect critical services and community systems\n\nJoin a growing, future-focused Council investing in cyber resilience\n\nEnjoy flexible work, professional development and career growth\n\nWorking for us means enjoying diverse work and gaining opportunities to grow in a region of outstanding natural beauty - Redlands Coast.
