This role focuses on creating software applications, test automation tools, data management systems, and visualization platforms that enable efficient manufacturing operations, product validation, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement. Working closely with Test Engineers, Process Engineers, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams, the Software Developer helps ensure reliable data collection, analysis, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.\nThis role is eligible for Redlen’s Hybrid Framework, with a minimum requirement of 3 days per week onsite at our Saanichton production facility. As the role and team directly support manufacturing, it is not open to remote work. \n\nResponsibilities\n\nManufacturing Test Software Development\nDevelop, maintain, and enhance test software applications used for characterization, calibration, validation, and production testing of semiconductor detectors, detector modules, and associated electronics.\nCreate and maintain graphical user interfaces (GUIs), APIs, and software tools used by engineering and manufacturing personnel.\nSupport automated test systems used in R&D, New Product Introduction (NPI), and high-volume manufacturing environments.\nDevelop software that interfaces with test instruments, embedded controllers, motion systems, and manufacturing equipment.\n\nManufacturing Systems Integration\nSupport integration of test software with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), production databases, and other factory information systems.\nDevelop tools to streamline manufacturing workflows and improve operational efficiency.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support process automation and digital manufacturing initiatives.\n\nQuality, Deployment, and Support\nPerform software testing, debugging, validation, and release activities.\nMaintain source code repositories and software documentation.\nSupport software deployment and configuration management within manufacturing and engineering environments.\nInvestigate and resolve software-related issues affecting production and test operations.\nParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on software reliability, performance, and maintainability.\n\nExperience\nMinimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a Software Developer or similar software development role.\nExperience developing and supporting software applications in engineering, manufacturing, industrial automation, or laboratory environments.\nExperience with the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.\nExperience developing applications that interact with databases, instruments, or hardware systems.\nExperience working in a collaborative, cross-functional technical environment.\n\nTechnical Skills\nRequired\nProficiency in Python and C/C++.\nExperience developing desktop, web-based, or industrial software applications.\nFamiliarity with relational database design and management, including SQL and PostgreSQL.\nExperience with source control and issue tracking tools such as Git.\nExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.\nExperience developing software for data collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization.\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, and software testing skills.\n\nPreferred Assets\nExperience developing software for manufacturing test systems, automated equipment, or industrial automation environments.\nExperience with semiconductor, electronics, medical device, or other high-technology manufacturing industries.\nExperience with LabVIEW, C# and/or Visual Basic.\nFamiliarity with electronic test equipment, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation control.\nUnderstanding of mixed-signal electronics, detector systems, embedded systems, or hardware-software integration.\nExperience working with MES, ERP, or factory automation systems.\n\nCompetencies\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nDemonstrated ability to develop practical software solutions for real-world manufacturing challenges.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills.\nCollaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and operations groups.\nSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive tasks to completion.\nCommitment to continuous improvement, software quality, and operational excellence.\nAdaptability in a fast-paced manufacturing and product development environment.\n\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nEquivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered\n\nSalary Range: $85,000 -
