Engineering Manager, Cloud Customer Experience

We're hiring an accomplished and forward-thinking Engineering Manager to lead Redpanda's Cloud Customer Experience organisation, across two teams that own the surfaces our customers touch, and the services that measure usage and turn it into revenue.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Cloud, you'll lead two pods: a new and growing team in Warsaw that owns, amongst other things, our commerce path end-to-end, and an established team in the Americas that owns our customer-facing product surfaces. Both pods share one charter for the product surfaces; the Warsaw team additionally owns sign-up, usage-based billing, payments and our cloud-marketplace integrations. Between them, these teams own the experience of every Redpanda Cloud customer and a majority of Cloud revenue.

This is a build-and-lead role, not a caretaking one. The Warsaw team is being stood up now, and you can get involved in the hiring, forming, and norming of the team. You'll be a Redpanda engineering leader in a new office. The Americas team is well established, deeply tenured in its surfaces, with SMEs. You'll be managing across time zones, so async operations are crucial, and we'll expect you to be opinionated about how to make it work.

You'll partner closely with Product, Design, Finance, and our field teams, and with peer engineering leaders across Cloud, Core and the Agentic Data Plane.

This is a hybrid role based in our central Warsaw office, with a minimum of 3 days a week on-site.

You will:

• Lead two engineering pods, one in Warsaw, one in the Americas, owning Redpanda Cloud's customer-facing surfaces: our console, the query and pipeline experiences, the cloud UI, and our administrative tooling

• Own the commerce path end-to-end in Warsaw: sign-up and account management, usage-based billing and metering, invoicing and payments, and public cloud marketplace integrations

• Hire and build the Warsaw team, completing team build out, and be a senior engineering presence in a new office

• Partner with an established technical leads across cloud and engineering, and remotely lead the Americas pod, giving them real authority over day-to-day execution while you own people leadership, roadmap and cross-team alignment for both pods

• Own end-to-end delivery: scoping, prioritisation, execution, and on-time, high-quality launches across both pods

• Hold a high bar for correctness in money-handling systems: idempotency, reconciliation and auditability in billing, metering and payments

• Maintain a high bar for operational excellence: incident response, on-call health, SLOs against our 99.99% reliability target, and post-launch operations

• Run async-first by default across a timezones, and be deliberate about where synchronous time is genuinely worth its cost

• Make knowledge distribution an explicit team practice, these surfaces have deep specialists, and we want to avoid single person silos

• Provide regular career development, coaching, and performance feedback that helps engineers level up

• Partner with Product and Design to shape the roadmap and translate product and commercial priorities into clear engineering plans

• Surface risks, dependencies and trade-offs early, and use data to decide where to invest

• Collaborate with Customer Success, Solutions Engineering and Finance to unblock customers and prioritise the roadmap

You have:

• 7+ years in software engineering, including building and operating enterprise-grade SaaS platforms

• 3+ years managing technical engineering teams, with a track record of delivering predictably against committed roadmaps

• Experience leading teams across a timezone spreads, including at least one team you did not sit with

• Experience growing and forming teams, or leading a satellite office or remote hub of a globally distributed company

• Experience owning customer-facing web surfaces and a design system. You don't need to be a UX and design specialist, but you'll own these surfaces and should be able to hold a real conversation about them

• Solid cloud and distributed-systems fundamentals: hands-on experience with public cloud (at least one of AWS/GCP/Azure), and enough depth to earn the trust of senior engineers and be a useful reviewer of their designs

• Experience turning ambiguous product and commercial requirements into executable engineering plans

• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g. Claude Code), and a view on how to adopt them without lowering the bar

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English

• A strong sense of empathy for customers and teammates, and a commitment to building high-trust teams

Nice to have:

• Usage-based billing and metering experience (we use Metronome, but other relevant approaches are useful)

• Cloud marketplace integrations (AWS, GCP and/or Azure), usage-based billing, public and private offers

• Payments integration, including PCI considerations (we use Stripe for card payments)

• Identity, authentication and sign-up flows

• Experience leading a team through adopting ownership of inherited systems from the teams that built them

• Frontend familiarity (React / TypeScript) and experience with a shared component library or design system

• Golang proficiency, or recent hands-on technical experience

• Experience with Redpanda or other streaming platforms as a user
