personnel, equipment and material up and down the mine shaft during its excavation and construction, all while ensuring the safe operation of the sinking hoist and winches at all times.\n Move sinking equipment in and out of the shaft\n\nPerform routine daily inspections on hoist and winches and assure maintenance needs are reported and logged.\n\nTest the safety devices and controls of the hoist\n\nMove levers and pedals to operate hoist in response to arm, bell, or buzzer signals.\n\nObserve dial indicator and marks on cable or drum to ascertain that desired position has been reached\n\nApply hand or foot brake and moves lever to lock hoist.\n\nInspect, lubricate, and adjust brakes and equipment.\n\nSelect loads or materials according to weight and size specifications\n\nMust be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner\n\nMust be able to follow proper procedure to ensure Hoist operator qualification certificate (provincial)\n\nWork Experience:\nMinimum of 2 years' experience in shaft work, including shaft inspection, monitoring cages and skips, cleating and slinging, and maintenance.\n\nKnowledge Required\nMust know and understand the entire shaft sinking signals as required\nKnowledge of occupational health and safety rules and provincial lifting regulations\nMedical certificate attesting to ability to operate a winch (to be renewed annually)\nAbility to multi task and work
