The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems within the mining operation. This includes ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently, reliably, and safely. The Mechanical Supervisor will manage a team of mechanics and fabricators, coordinating tasks to optimize operations while troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues. The role also involves ensuring compliance with safety standards and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in the maintenance department. Provides exceptional leadership and direction through coaching, mentorship, supervision and development with a focus on a safe and inclusive environment.

1. Oversee and direct the maintenance, repair, and installation of all mechanical equipment, including crushers, conveyors, pumps, and heavy machinery. Ensure work is carried out to meet operational needs and within timelines. Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, components, and equipment, including substations, switchgear, motors, and control systems.

2. Work closely with other departments, such as electrical, operations, and safety teams, to streamline workflows and optimize machinery uptime. Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting issues affecting plant operations. Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustments or upgrades.

3. Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of mechanics and fabricators, ensuring high performance, proper skills development, and adherence to safety protocols. Schedule and assign tasks based on priorities and resources available.

4. Ensure all mechanical work complies with site-specific safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental policies. Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

5. Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and safety checks.

6. Support training and development of team members to ensure technical competency and safety awareness.

7. Recommend and implement system improvements to enhance mechanical performance and operational safety.

8. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

9. Responsible to keep work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.

10.Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.

11.Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.

12.Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

13.Train and mentor staff on operational procedures and safety measures.

14.Monitor equipment performance and address any issues promptly.

15.Implement and enforce company policies and procedures.

16.Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

17.Address any personnel issues or conflicts within the shift team.

18.Manages employee performance and adherence to the Company’s policies and

procedures.

19.Ensure that training is provided to meet with the current and future needs of the mine.

20.Responsible for the hiring, evaluation, commendation, training, disciplinary action, and dismissals regarding supervised staff.

21.Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.

22.Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath’s Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).23.Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and

shift rotations.

Education:

1. Bachelor’s degree in mining/mechanical/ electrical engineering or related field is preferred.

Work Experience:

1. Mechanical Maintenance Experience (5-10 Years)

2. Supervisory Experience (2-5 years)

Knowledge Required:

1. Must be able to demonstrate proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.

2. Knowledge of the mining industry underground environment

3. Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work).

4. Knowledge and understanding of mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining.
