The role will work closely with application and engineering teams to build scalable, secure, and highly available platforms while continuously improving developer experience and operational efficiency.\n\nThe candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions: \n\nDatabase and Cloud Technologies: \nStrong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server; NoSQL experience is a plus.\nExperience managing on-premises database infrastructure, including configuration, performance, backup/restore, HA, DR, and troubleshooting.\nExperience with cloud-managed databases such as AWS RDS/Aurora, etc.\nStrong understanding of cloud and on-premises database architecture, networking, security, IAM, and hybrid environments.\nHands-on experience with database migrations, particularly on-premises to cloud, using tools such as AWS DMS or equivalent.\n\nCloud Infrastructure (AWS): \nDesign and implement solutions for DevOps and platform engineering use cases.\nDesign, provision, and operate secure, scalable AWS infrastructure.\nWork across compute, networking, storage, and IAM.\nSupport multi-account AWS environments and apply governance guardrails.\nImplement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.\nTroubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues.\n\nCI/CD and DevOps Automation: \nBuild, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines for application and microservices teams (preferably using GitLab or GitHub).\nAutomate build, test, security scanning, and deployments.\n\nCloud Security and Governance (Execution Focus): \nImplement AWS security best practices including IAM, VPC security, encryption, and secrets management.\nEnforce tagging standards, access controls, and policy guardrails.\nSupport audit and compliance requirements.\n\nReliability and Observability: \nImplement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.\nBuild dashboards for system health, availability, and performance\nImprove system reliability through automation and proactive monitoring.\n\nDevOps Best Practices: \nApply and promote DevOps principles such as automation, CI/CD, and IaC.\nReduce operational toil through tooling and automation.\nSupport teams in adopting cloud-native and DevOps best practices.\n\nCollaboration and Mentorship: \nWork closely with application, SRE, and security teams.\nMentor junior DevOps engineers through code reviews and hands-on guidance.\nContribute to documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.\n\nRequirements: \n6 + years of experience leading or independently executing enterprise database migration and modernisation projects, including minimal or near-zero downtime migrations.\nHands-on experience with AWS DMS or equivalent migration technologies, database replication, and Change Data Capture (CDC).\nExperience working across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid-cloud environments.\nExperience with DR drills, RTO/RPO implementation, backup/recovery, and database resilience testing.\nStrong hands-on experience with AWS, including EC2, EKS, ECS, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch.\nStrong experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform, and configuration/automation tools.\nHands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.\nStrong scripting skills using Python or Bash.\nSolid understanding of Linux, networking, cloud security, monitoring, logging, and alerting.\nStrong troubleshooting, automation, and problem-solving skills.\nFamiliarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation.\nExperience with databases running in containerized/Kubernetes environments is a plus.\n\nBonus Points: \nAWS Config, CloudTrail, GuardDuty\nObservability tools (Corologix, ELK, Datadog)\nGitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux)\nScripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash\nExposure to FinOps practices\nAWS Certified Solutions Architect -
