The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.\nThe chemical engineering team has three main functions that leverage all the fields of chemical and metallurgical processing: Provide sound technical support and continuously improve our commercial operations; Develop new processes and plants to address the immediate challenges of the recycling industry; Research and development to address the future challenges of recycling industry. This Chemical Engineer will fall underneath Redwood's Operations group supporting our battery recycling and related operations. \nResponsibilities will include: \nWorking closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure that our processes are safe, efficient, sustainable, and continuously improving \nLeading and participating in cross-functional teams to develop and implement new process plant and equipment \nTestwork and pilot plant design and operation \nFlowsheet conceptualization and development \nFlowsheet trade-off evaluations and studies \nProcess plant design \nProcess plant implementation and installation assistance \nProcess plant commissioning and ramp-up \nDesired Qualifications \nBachelors or Masters in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline \n3 to 5 years experience in Chemical Plant Operations and/or Design and Commissioning \nLarge scale industrial processing experience \nOperational support and track record of solving difficult chemical and metallurgical process problems and making plant improvements \nTestwork and pilot plant design and operating experience \nProcess modelling (HSCSIM, SysCAD, METSIM) and equipment sizing linking testwork and pilot plant operation to real project implementation \nTrade-off studies and financial evaluation \nProcess plant design and commissioning \nTrack record of solving difficult chemical and metallurgical processing problems \nMetallurgical processing context of this experience is desired (mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy and electrometallurgy) but it isn’t essentia \nSelf Motivated with a hands on approach who takes the initiative \nStrong written and verbal communication \nA passion for sustainability and making the world a better place! \nPhysical Requirements: \nAbility to safely perform job duties in both office and production environments \nMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed \nMust maintain regular and punctual attendance in alignment with company and regulatory standards \nMust be able to communicate clearly \nWorking Conditions: \nSplit work environment between office and the production facility \nWork may involve extended periods of working in the production facility \nAbility to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time \nMay require occasional work weekends or alternate shifts to support production needs \nThe position is full-time.
