Remuneration on a B2B contract:

• 75-90 USD or 300-380 PLN per hour, or

• 12600-15120 USD or 48000-60800 PLN a month if you work 40 hours per week (most of us work a bit less)

• We automatically adjust rates based on inflation twice a year

Lead Python Backend Engineer wanted

Do you have at least 5 years of programming experience, including at least a year with Python? (We mean open source and significant personal projects, too, not just formal jobs.) If so, you have probably written so much Python code in your life that, at times, you want to express your thoughts through list comprehensions. Thanks to your extensive experience, you can solve any problem that gets thrown at you, but that is not enough-you come up with multiple solutions for every issue, and you always know how to choose the most Pythonic one.

If that describes you, great! But, while programming skills are crucial, they're not enough to keep delivering quality software to clients. That's why, for this lead position, we need somebody with:

• At least two years of team management experience, as this position requires leading and guiding a team.

• Project management skills: Experience in planning, estimating, and overseeing the execution of complex backend projects from start to finish.

• Client communication: Confidence in discussing technical matters with clients, managing expectations, and translating business requirements into technical solutions.

• Strategic thinking: Anticipating technical challenges, identifying opportunities for innovation, and contributing to the company's long-term technical vision.

• Strong technical leadership: Guiding and mentoring other developers, helping make key architectural decisions, and ensuring code quality across projects.

• Team development: Fostering a collaborative environment, facilitating knowledge sharing, and helping team members grow professionally.

• Ownership: Taking full responsibility for your code from the first line to deployment, ensuring it is rock-solid, efficient, and reliable.

• Proactiveness: Seeing projects through from start to finish and always thinking ahead to anticipate potential issues.

As a lead Python backend engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping our technical direction and maintaining our reputation for excellence.

Working at Reef in practice

Reef Technologies is a fully remote Python backend software house. We're a small, agile, senior-only team. All of our current members have more than five years of strong experience, and our founder doesn't only take care of sales, bureaucracy, and client relationships-he is also a programmer, so all of us really do work together and understand the job at hand.

We're serious about freedom at Reef. We mostly work asynchronously, which means that apart from a few meetings, you're free to code at any hour you like. Our staff members live in different time zones anyway, and, of course, we collaborate to accommodate everyone's needs for synchronous engagements.

What scheduled commitments can you expect? Every week, we hold a general news & celebrations (watercooler) call and a decision-making Sociocracy call for the whole team.

Our main project also has a weekly planning call and dailies, but depending on the project and the client you work for, your meeting schedule might be different. Rest assured that your needs will be taken into account when we plan it.

All in all, we do our best to ensure proper work-life balance and create an environment where you can focus on your code while at work and on whatever brings you pleasure in your free time.

All that without ever setting foot in an office. We create ingenious solutions for complex challenges from the comfort of our own homes, from tropical beaches and from our favorite coffee shops. Some of us work early in the morning; others start out late at night. Each of us is free to choose their own programming environment. We know our engineers are competent enough to organize their work and achieve top productivity in their own way.
