Cool demos are fun, but reliable work is what matters.\n\nLow cost is what makes widespread deployment possible.\n\nHigh-quality, proprietary robotics data is the foundation of the next generation of physical AI.\n\nGetting nerd-sniped by an engineering metric is way less important than solving our customers’ biggest pain points.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nWe develop custom servo actuators, compute, networking, cameras, sensors, and power electronics for our robots. These systems need to be performant, reliable, cost-effective, and tightly integrated with the rest of the robot.\nWe are looking for a senior to staff-level electrical engineer to own the robot’s power electronics and power distribution architecture. This includes the battery management system, bus voltage switching, e-stop integration, precharge, cabling, motor inverters, and EMI mitigation.\nYou will be responsible for defining requirements, making system-level architecture decisions, and taking designs from concept through bring-up, testing, and deployment. You will also work closely with junior engineers and external layout resources to execute designs.\nSome of the problems you may work on include:\nMiniaturizing motor drives by reducing bus capacitance and switching-stage size without sacrificing efficiency or creating EMI problems\n\nDesigning the power system safety architecture, including safe startup, shutdown, fault handling, and battery hot-swapping\n\nDesigning and validating a custom battery management system\n\nImproving motor inverter performance, reliability, thermal performance, and packaging\n\nDiagnosing and mitigating conducted and radiated EMI across the robot\n\nWe love engineers who have built systems they are genuinely proud of, whether that is a shipped product, a difficult technical project, or something they built outside of work.\nRequired Qualifications\nStrong electrical engineering fundamentals\n\nDeep experience designing power electronics systems, ideally in the ~48V range\n\nExperience with motor inverters, motor drives, or similar high-current switching systems\n\nStrong PCB design, board bring-up, test, and debug skills\n\nComfortable debugging power electronics with scopes, power supplies, current probes, and other lab equipment\n\nStrong understanding of system-level tradeoffs across electrical, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and cost constraints\n\nAbility to independently define technical requirements and make architecture and design decisions\n\nExperience taking complex electrical designs from concept through prototype and validation\n\nStrong communication skills and ability to lead technical work across multiple contributors\n\nBS or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field\n\nBonus Qualifications\nExperience with low-voltage power electronics for robotics, electric aircraft, EV subsystems, industrial automation, or servo systems\n\nMotor physics and motor control experience\n\nControl systems or stability analysis experience\n\nBattery management system design\n\nPower system safety architecture, including precharge, e-fuses, contactors, and e-stop systems\n\nEMI/EMC design and mitigation for switching power systems\n\nExperience designing for battery hot-swap systems\n\nExperience managing PCB layout contractors or other external engineering resources\n\nExperience with DFM, supply chain considerations, test coverage, and production bring-up\n\nProficiency in Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout\n\nCross-disciplinary experience with firmware, embedded systems, or mechanical design\n\nExperience managing or mentoring junior engineers\n\nRobotics experience\n\nCompensation: $180,000-$250,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.\nCome Join Us\nReflex is de-risked enough to see the hazy outlines of success, but still small enough that there’s enormous upside for grabs.
