This role is responsible for leading clinical staff (Ophthalmic Technicians, Assistants, and Scribes), optimizing patient flow, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care.\nKey Responsibilities\nTeam Leadership & Supervision\nLead, mentor, and supervise clinical support personnel, including Ophthalmic Technicians, Assistants, and Scribes.\nManage daily staffing schedules, room assignments, and floor coverage to ensure smooth patient flow across all providers.\nConduct performance evaluations, clinical skill assessments, and ongoing staff training/onboarding.\nAddress clinical workflow bottlenecks in real time to minimize patient wait times while maintaining high care standards.\nClinical & Technical Operations\nOversee diagnostic testing equipment maintenance, calibration, and supply inventory management.\nServe as a clinical escalation point for complex patient inquiries, triage calls, and immediate clinical issues.\nMaintain working knowledge of specialized ophthalmic diagnostic testing (OCT, Visual Fields, Topography, Biometry/A-scans, Fundus Photography) and perform testing or workups as needed to support the floor.\nPartner with physicians to streamline provider-specific preferences and clinic templates.\nCompliance & Quality Assurance\nEnsure full compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control standards, and clinic policies.\nMonitor clinical documentation accuracy in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to support quality initiatives and billing requirements.\nOversee medication management, sample tracking, and hazardous waste disposal compliance.\nQualifications & Requirements\nMandatory Requirements (Must Have)\nOphthalmology Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on clinical experience within an active ophthalmology setting.\nLeadership Experience: Minimum 2 years of direct supervisory, team lead, or clinical manager experience in an outpatient medical setting.\nEducation & Certifications\n Certification (Preferred): Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) through IJCAHPO.\nHigh School Diploma or GED required;
