The role is responsible for making sure the room works reliably, has superb sound and can support ambitious long-form, live, remote and rapid-response output - across both horizontal and vertical formats - every day.\nYou will own the practical technical quality of cameras, lighting, sound, recording, connectivity, remote contribution, streaming, monitoring and failover. Working closely with the Head of Video and the production team, you will turn editorial requirements into repeatable workflows and diagnose problems calmly when live output or high-profile recordings are under pressure.\nWhat you'll do\nOwn day-to-day studio reliability and technical quality\nTake responsibility for the technical readiness of the Westminster studio before every major recording, live programme, interview, address or event.\nOperate and maintain cameras, lenses, lighting, audio, monitoring, recording, teleprompter, remote contributors and related studio systems to a consistently high standard.\nRun pre-flight checks, rehearsals and acceptance processes so issues are found before transmission or recording rather than discovered by the audience.\nTroubleshoot calmly and quickly during live or time-critical output, prioritising safe recovery, continuity and protection of recorded material.\nKey Responsibilities\nProtect sound, picture and recording standards\nMake all aspects of broadcast-quality audio a non-negotiable priority, including microphones, acoustic issues, isolated tracks, mix-minus and backup paths.\nMaintain consistent camera matching, exposure, framing, white balance and reliable operation across different set positions.\nCreate and maintain recallable lighting states for long-form, live, standing, guest and formal-address modes.\nEnsure local isolated recording of key cameras and audio remains available even when direction, switching or contribution is handled remotely.\nMaintain clean, documented signal paths and monitoring so faults can be identified quickly and footage can be recovered after transmission or network failure.\nOwn live contribution, connectivity and resilience\nManage primary and backup internet paths, contribution feeds, SRT or equivalent transport, return video, intercom, confidence monitoring and streaming outputs.\nPlan and test failover for connectivity, power, recording, audio, remote guests and other critical systems before high-profile live output.\nSupport remote gallery workflows while ensuring essential local controls and standby output remain available when remote systems fail.\nWork with producers on caller/remote-guest setups, mix-minus, latency, playback, captions and other technical and safety/compliance requirements for live formats.\nCreate safe, repeatable production workflows\nDocument studio configurations, patching, presets, cable plans, checklists, start-up/shutdown procedures and common fault-recovery steps.\nMaintain organised equipment, spares, batteries, storage, cabling and maintenance schedules so the room is ready for fast changeovers.\nSupport both horizontal and vertical production, ensuring framing guides, clean feeds and recording arrangements protect downstream social edits.\nTrack recurring faults and recommend practical upgrades, replacements or supplier action based on operational evidence rather than ad hoc preference.\nSupport producers and maximise studio value\nWork collaboratively with producers, editors, presenters and political figures to translate creative requirements into technically safe and efficient setups.\nAdvise on what the studio can deliver, how long changeovers will take and where production ideas introduce technical or resilience risk.\nHelp train relevant colleagues - including non-technical staff in the Website and Brand Social teams - in safe day-to-day operation, basic fault reporting and workflows without diluting clear technical ownership.\nPerformance and Operations:\nKeep firmware, settings, licences, records and maintenance information organised and ensure critical changes are tested before they reach live production.\nProtect access to technical systems, credentials, networks and recordings, following least-privilege and recovery principles appropriate to a political organisation.\nCoordinate external engineers, suppliers or remote production partners when specialist work is required and hold them to clear acceptance standards.\nReport technical risks, recurring failures, capacity constraints and required investment clearly to the Head of Video and relevant operational stakeholders.\nPlan maintenance and upgrades around the editorial calendar so technical work supports rather than unexpectedly disrupts output.\nUnderstand the confidentiality and scrutiny associated with political production, handling unreleased speeches, recordings, guest information and access appropriately.\nContribute ideas for making the studio more flexible, faster and easier to operate for non-technical colleagues, and better suited to long-form, live, vertical and national-address workflows.\nTHE PERSON\nWe are looking for a hands-on technical operator who is calm under pressure, obsessively reliable and highly competent across modern studio, audio, video and live-production systems.\nEssential experience and capabilities\nSubstantial practical experience engineering, operating or technically producing professional studio, broadcast, live-streaming or high-end digital video output.\nStrong hands-on competence with professional cameras, lenses, exposure, matching, recording, monitoring and multi-camera studio workflows.\nExcellent audio knowledge, including speech microphones, gain structure, isolated tracks, acoustic problems, mix-minus, monitoring and backup signal paths.\nStrong lighting knowledge, including LED, key/fill/backlight principles, practical fixtures, programmable states and changing daylight/window-control challenges.\nExperience with live contribution and streaming systems, including LiveU, remote guests, return feeds, intercom, resilient connectivity and troubleshooting under pressure.\nGood understanding of local recording, storage, media management, redundancy, failover and recovery for high-profile productions.\nAbility to diagnose faults methodically and remain calm and constructive when a problem occurs during a live or time-critical production.\nStrong organisational habits: documentation, checklists, maintenance, spares, cable management, configuration control and equipment readiness.\nExcellent communication skills with producers, editors, presenters, external engineers and non-technical stakeholders.\nComfort working professionally and discreetly inside a political organisation where access, confidentiality, reliability and public scrutiny matter.\nWillingness to work full-time from Reform UK's Westminster HQ and flex around live output, events and urgent production requirements, including evenings and weekends when needed.\nHighly desirable\nExperience designing, commissioning or accepting a new studio build or significant technical upgrade.\nExperience with SRT or similar contribution workflows, remote galleries, multi-destination streaming and hybrid local/remote production.\nExperience with teleprompters, green screen, graphics/playback, captions, remote callers or live phone-in workflows.\nKnowledge of broadcast loudness standards, network architecture, power resilience, UPS/failover or related systems engineering.\nPractical shooting, directing or technical-producing experience that helps bridge engineering and editorial requirements.\nWhy join Reform UK?\nThis is a rare opportunity to take genuine ownership of a new Westminster production facility and help define how it operates from the outset. The successful candidate will have direct influence over reliability, workflow, standards and the technical platform behind a growing national video operation.","description_format":"text","description_chars":8094,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Nonprofits & Foundations"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-05T18:28:10Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":38,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.512,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":19,"expected_fill_days":23,"reasons":["conf:2","stale_co","win:late"],"computed_at":"2026-10-25T05:49:26Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/reform-uk-studio-engineer-technical-producer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/reform-uk-studio-engineer-technical-producer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-25T13:47:44Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":19717,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-26T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":719414},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=719414"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Freform-uk-studio-engineer-technical-producer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Freform-uk-studio-engineer-technical-producer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Freform-uk-studio-engineer-technical-producer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/reform-uk-studio-engineer-technical-producer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Freform-uk-studio-engineer-technical-producer"}]}
