The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong shop floor leadership to support production, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nWhat You'll Do …\nTechnical Leadership\nServe as the primary machining expert for Davenport and Acme Gridley multi-spindle screw machines.\nLead complex setups, troubleshooting, repairs, and process optimization activities.\nDevelop machining processes, tooling strategies, setup documentation, and work instructions.\nCalculate and optimize feeds, speeds, tooling, cycle times, and machining parameters.\nSupport new product launches and process validation activities.\nProduction & Operational Support\nEstablish daily machining priorities based on customer demand and production schedules.\nCoordinate staffing, machine capacity, tooling, and materials to meet production goals.\nMonitor quality, throughput, scrap, downtime, and schedule attainment.\nIdentify production constraints and implement corrective actions.\nTeam Development\nTrain and mentor operators, setup technicians, and machinists.\nTransfer technical knowledge and develop future technical leaders.\nHelp create standardized processes, setup sheets, and troubleshooting guides.\nFoster a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.\nEquipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement\nLead machine repair, rebuild, and preventative maintenance activities.\nDrive improvements in uptime, setup reduction, cycle times, quality, and productivity.\nParticipate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.\nPromote safe work practices and compliance with quality standards.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired Qualifications\n10+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.\n5+ years of advanced setup, troubleshooting, and repair experience on Davenport and/or Acme Gridley multi-spindle screw machines.\nExpertise in machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass.\nStrong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.\nExperience with precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and thread gauges.\nDemonstrated experience leading production priorities and mentoring technical employees.\nStrong problem-solving, mechanical aptitude, and communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMachining apprenticeship, journeyman certification, technical degree, or equivalent trade training.\nCNC setup and programming experience.\nPrevious experience as a lead machinist, technical lead, setup lead, or supervisor.\nExperience in high-volume precision manufacturing.\nLean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.\nERP/MRP system experience.\nWhy Join Kilian Manufacturing?\nAt Kilian Manufacturing, we take pride in producing high-quality precision components while investing in our people and manufacturing expertise.
