In this role, you will shape firmware priorities, coordinate product roadmaps with Product Management, and guide major software efforts from concept through release.\nBased at our global headquarters in Radford VA, this position offers a hands-on, team-oriented environment. We emphasize continuous improvement and agile development to create products known for quality and features. We design products with the depth and flexibility advanced controls engineers need, while keeping them approachable for engineers who are earlier in their careers.\nThis role sits at the center of a cross-functional engineering environment where firmware, tools, and product direction must stay aligned. You will work across the organization to turn business needs into well-executed products.\nThis is a strong fit for someone who likes both technical depth and leadership: someone who can make sound product decisions, guide teams through complex work, and stay engaged in the technical choices that shape software used in demanding industrial motion applications.\nThis is a critical role within Kollmorgen with high responsibility and future leadership opportunities.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOwn software backlog priorities, technical direction, and release planning. \nTurn product goals into clear development plans, stories, and execution priorities. \nPartner with Product Management, application engineers, and other technical leaders to maintain a coordinated product roadmap. \nLead major software efforts for servo drive products, including scope, architecture, and priorities. \nDrive planning and requirements definition so teams build the right products with disciplined execution. \nProvide people leadership to embedded software engineers. \nPromote strong collaboration between engineering teams during planning and execution. \nSupport the growth of engineers through coaching, technical guidance, and feedback. \nMentor early-career engineers in software development, industrial control system knowledge, and engineering practice. \nResponsibilities will scale with experience. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.\nRequired Skills and Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required. \n10+ years of software development experience required.\n5+ years of software leadership experience (project or people leadership) required.\nExperience working with embedded software teams required. \nSoftware Product Leadership: Ability to own backlog flow, feature planning, and cross-team execution. \nTechnical Leadership: Proven ability to guide software teams on architecture, product direction, and major project execution. \nPlanning and Prioritization: Ability to coordinate priorities between Engineering, Customer Support, and Product Management while keeping technical execution on track. \nCommunication: Clear communication with engineers, managers, application engineers, and product stakeholders. \nDecision Quality: Good judgment in tradeoffs, scope, risk, and execution timing. \nTeam Leadership: Ability to align teams, remove blockers, and maintain progress on important work. \nLearning Agility: Ability to learn products, customer use cases, and business context quickly. \nPreferred Skills and Qualifications:\nExperience in industrial automation, motion control, or related products strongly preferred. \nMotion control or servo drive product experience. \nIndustrial control systems experience. \nExperience as a firmware product owner, software manager, or technical program leader. \nExperience leading software teams through organizational change. \nWork Type:\nHybrid: This role follows a Hybrid Work Schedule requiring a minimum of 3 in-office days per week, Monday through Thursday, at your designated Regal Rexnord office, with the option to work remotely up to 2 days per week, including Friday.\nLeveling Language:\nThis role may be filled at different levels depending on the candidate’s experience, skills, and business needs.\nPay Transparency Language:\nExpected Base Salary Range: $100,000-$155,800\nThe salary range provided is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for this position.
