You will work on generators returning from hire as well as preparing, testing and maintaining equipment ready for its next deployment.\nYou will play an important role in ensuring our generator fleet remains reliable, safe and available for our customers, completing everything from routine servicing and inspections through to more complex mechanical and electrical repairs.\nAlthough the role is approximately 95% depot-based, there may occasionally be a requirement to provide engineering support at customer sites across the North West. A company van will be available when site attendance is required.\nThis is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Generator Engineer looking for the stability of a predominantly depot-based position combined with a 4 on, 4 off working pattern.\nKey Responsibilities\nCarry out servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel generators ranging from smaller sets through to large multi-megawatt units.\nMaintain and repair generators returning to the Walkden depot from customer hire.\nComplete routine servicing and preventative maintenance to maximise generator reliability and availability.\nCarry out thorough inspections on generators returning from hire and identify any repairs or remedial work required.\nPrepare and inspect generators before they are deployed back to customer sites.\nDiagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools, equipment and diagnostic software.\nComplete mechanical and electrical repairs to a high standard.\nConduct load bank testing, functional checks and performance verification.\nWork across engines, alternators, control panels and associated generator systems.\nPrepare generators, distribution equipment and associated components for customer hire.\nMaintain accurate service records, job sheets and compliance documentation.\nEnsure all equipment meets Rehlko’s quality, safety and compliance standards before leaving the depot.\nSupport continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and workshop processes.\nMaintain high standards of workshop organisation, housekeeping and health and safety.\nWork collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to ensure equipment is prepared and available when required.\nProvide occasional engineering support at customer sites across the North West when required.\nThe Person\nProven experience working with diesel generators or similar mechanical and electrical plant.\nStrong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.\nExperience carrying out servicing, planned maintenance and repairs.\nAbility to confidently diagnose faults and identify the appropriate repairs.\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and service manuals.\nExperience with engine manufacturers such as Volvo, Scania, Perkins or MTU would be advantageous.\nKnowledge of control panels, alternators and generator control systems such as Deep Sea or ComAp would be desirable.\nStrong understanding of workshop health and safety requirements.\nA practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively as part of the wider engineering team.\nHigh attention to detail and a commitment to quality.\nWillingness to work a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern.\nFull UK driving licence preferred.\nWhat We Can Offer You\nCompetitive salary/rate depending on experience\n4 on, 4 off shift pattern\nPredominantly depot-based position\nOvertime opportunities\n33 days holiday, including bank holidays, subject to shift entitlement\nTraining and upskilling opportunities\nPrivate healthcare\nDeath in service benefit\nExcellent long-term progression opportunities\nAccess to our Employee Assistance Programme\nOpportunity to develop your technical knowledge within a global power generation business\nIf you’re an experienced Generator Engineer looking for a predominantly workshop-based role without the expectation of constantly travelling between customer sites, this is an excellent opportunity to join our engineering team at Walkden.\nAbout Us\nRehlko proudly offers a rich history steeped in creativity and commitment to our associates and communities, along with competitive benefits and compensation.
