From initial concept through to installation and commissioning, you'll be involved in creating practical, high-quality mechanical and piping designs for complex power generation projects.\nThis role is ideal for a designer who enjoys turning engineering concepts into detailed, buildable solutions and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. You'll be part of a knowledgeable and supportive engineering function where quality, safety and continuous improvement are central to everything we do.\nWhat you'll be doing\nCreating designs from concept to completion\nYou'll develop mechanical and piping designs from an initial concept through to fully detailed engineering deliverables. Working closely with Mechanical Engineers and project teams, you'll create 3D models and detailed drawings that support the successful delivery of our projects.\nThis will include producing general arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, pipework layouts, equipment skid designs and installation details using AutoCAD and associated design tools.\nSupporting projects from tender through delivery\nYou'll contribute to projects from the earliest stages, assisting Sales and Proposals teams with preliminary layouts and tender designs before developing these into complete design packages for execution.\nYour designs will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements, technical standards and project schedules.\nWorking closely with engineering and site teams\nCollaboration is a key part of the role. You'll work alongside Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, Site Engineers and subcontractors to resolve technical challenges and ensure designs remain practical and achievable throughout the project lifecycle.\nYou'll also undertake site visits and surveys to gather project information, verify design requirements and support the production of accurate as-built documentation following installation.\nDriving quality and continuous improvement\nYou'll contribute to the development and maintenance of component libraries and standardised design solutions, helping improve efficiency and consistency across the engineering function.\nAs with all roles at Clarke Energy, you'll work in accordance with our Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards, ensuring that safety and quality are built into every design.\nAbout you\nYou're a detail-focused designer who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. You enjoy solving technical challenges, managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines.\nYou'll be customer-focused, proactive and adaptable, with a strong commitment to delivering the right solution for every project.\nYou'll likely bring:\nA minimum of five years' experience designing and detailing piping installations\nAn OND/ONC in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline, supported by relevant industry experience\nExperience and understanding of industrial mechanical systems, processes and applications\nProficiency in AutoCAD 3D Modelling, AutoCAD Plant P&ID, AutoCAD Plant 3D and Autodesk Navis Review\nGood IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications\nStrong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills\nExcellent attention to detail and effective communication skills\nThe ability to prioritise workload and perform effectively under pressure\nDesirable experience\nThe following would be advantageous but are not essential:\nHNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering\nExperience with other 3D design and modelling software packages\nExperience within power generation, energy, process plant or related industrial sectors\nWhy join Clarke Energy?\nWe believe great engineering starts with well-supported people.
