As a Senior PHP Developer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling high-performance backend systems. You will take ownership of complex technical solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure the delivery of secure, robust, and maintainable code aligned with fintech industry standards.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using PHP (8.x) and modern frameworks (Symfony).\n\nWork effectively with both legacy and modern codebases, ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement.\n\nDemonstrate a strong ability to analyze, understand, and maintain code independently, using AI tools as a supporting resource rather than a primary dependency.\n\nArchitect robust, secure, and high-performing solutions aligned with fintech standards.\n\nBuild and maintain REST APIs, ensuring proper versioning and backward compatibility.\n\nOptimize database performance (MySQL/MariaDB), including query tuning, schema design, and migrations.\n\nImplement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments (Docker).\n\nEnsure code quality through testing strategies (unit, integration, feature tests) and code reviews.\n\nApply SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture in everyday development.\n\nMonitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.\n\nEnforce security best practices (OWASP, secure authentication flows, data protection, GDPR compliance).\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.\n\nMentor junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and technical guidance.\n\nContribute to technical decision-making, challenge requirements constructively, and promote best practices.\n\nREQUIREMENTS\nMore than 7+ years of professional experience in software development\n\nExpert-level knowledge of PHP 8.x and modern development practices\n\nExtensive experience with Laravel or Symfony, including deep framework understanding\n\nStrong experience with MySQL or MariaDB (query optimization, schema design, normalization)\n\nSolid understanding of REST API design principles\n\nProficiency with Git (branching strategies, code reviews, release workflows)\n\nExperience with PHPUnit and defining test strategies\n\nHands-on experience with Docker and containerized production environments\n\nStrong knowledge of caching strategies and performance optimization\n\nExperience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub preferred)\n\nSolid understanding of Composer and dependency management\n\nComfortable working in Linux/CLI environments\n\nStrong understanding of security best practices in web applications\n\nSOFT SKILLS\nAbility to independently design and architect solutions\n\nStrong problem-solving mindset with focus on maintainability and scalability\n\nConfidence to challenge requirements and propose better alternatives\n\nAbility to translate business needs into technical solutions\n\nExperience leading initiatives or small teams\n\nStrong written communication skills in async environments\n\nNICE TO HAVE\nExperience in fintech or financial services domain\n\nFrontend development skills (Vue.js or React)\n\nExperience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)\n\nPrevious experience in technical interviewing or hiring\n\nWHAT WE OFFER\nSalary range: €5500 -
