Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.\nJoining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.\nAbout the Team:\nThe Materials and NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) team plays a central role in enabling Terran R to fly, re-fly, and scale: developing, characterizing, and inspecting materials and processes across all parts of the vehicle. From welding and additive manufacturing to advanced composites, the team works at the intersection of innovation and execution, balancing performance and reliability with cost, quality, and schedule. As we move toward first flight and beyond, the challenges become more exciting, offering opportunities to shape how we design and develop for re-use. With ownership across products, systems, and disciplines, engineers gain broad exposure and drive key decisions across design, manufacturing, and operations.\nThis is a second-shift position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. PT. In addition to base pay, employees receive a 10% shift differential.\nAbout the Role:\nPerform and provide technical leadership for advanced Eddy Current Testing (ET) inspections on complex aerospace hardware using conventional ET, Eddy Current Array (ECA), and other approved electromagnetic inspection techniques\nWork closely with ET Specialists, NDE Engineers, manufacturing, quality, and other technical stakeholders to develop solutions for challenging inspection applications and support feasibility studies, Probability of Detection (POD) studies, and qualification activities\nIndependently interpret and evaluate complex Eddy Current inspection data, characterize relevant indications, and determine acceptance in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and applicable acceptance criteria\nDevelop, document, optimize, validate, and publish part-specific ET techniques for complex hardware, geometries, materials, and inspection configurations\nApply advanced knowledge of Eddy Current principles and inspection variables, including probe selection, frequency, phase, gain, filtering, lift-off, conductivity, permeability, geometry effects, and signal-to-noise optimization\nPerform and provide technical guidance for equipment setup, calibration, reference-standard selection, system verification, inspection execution, and data analysis to ensure consistent and reliable inspection results\nServe as a technical resource for complex or non-routine ET inspections, troubleshooting inspection challenges, equipment issues, signal responses, calibration concerns, and technique limitations\nGenerate and review clear, accurate, and comprehensive inspection documentation and reports, ensuring inspection results and technical findings are appropriately documented and communicated\nProvide advanced technical guidance and mentorship to Level I, Level II, Senior Inspectors, and other NDE personnel, supporting development of inspection technique, equipment operation, signal interpretation, and troubleshooting capabilities\nSupport the development and improvement of reference standards, probes, fixtures, scanning methods, and inspection tooling used for Eddy Current inspections\nInterface with engineering, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and other stakeholders regarding inspection results, technical concerns, inspection capability, and potential solutions\nDrive continuous improvement of ET inspection processes by identifying opportunities to improve inspection reliability, repeatability, capability, throughput, and quality\nAbout You:\nMinimum of 10 years total relevant experience in NDE; 5 of which shall be in commercial aerospace NDE\nProof of formal NDE classroom training in Eddy Current Testing (ET)\nPrevious Level II certification in Eddy Current Testing (ET) in accordance with NAS 410, SNT-TC-1A, or an equivalent industry standard, with verifiable training, experience, and certification records. Be prepared to provide supporting documentation prior to the onsite interview\nExtensive and verifiable experience performing and evaluating Eddy Current inspections on complex aerospace or high-reliability hardware\nAdvanced working knowledge of Eddy Current principles, including frequency selection, phase and amplitude response, conductivity, permeability, lift-off, edge effect, probe selection, signal-to-noise optimization, and discontinuity characterization\nDemonstrated experience independently performing ET equipment setup, calibration, inspection, signal interpretation, and evaluation in accordance with approved techniques and acceptance criteria\nExperience performing ET inspections on a variety of materials, geometries, welds, components, and surface conditions\nExperience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria\nDemonstrated ability to independently execute established ET techniques, accurately document inspection results, and produce comprehensive inspection reports\nDemonstrated ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to Level I, Level II, and less-experienced NDE personnel\nStrong computer skills and proficiency with applications used for inspection acquisition, analysis, documentation, data management, and reporting\nAbility to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and stand or work in inspection environments for extended periods\nAbility and willingness to travel approximately 10-25%, as required\nNice to haves, but not required:\nPrevious certification, training, or experience in additional NDE methods such as RT, UT, PT, and/or VT\nExperience performing ET inspections in an aerospace, spaceflight, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environment\nExperience inspecting additively manufactured materials/components using Eddy Current Testing\nExperience with advanced Eddy Current technologies, including Eddy Current Array (ECA), encoded scanning, surface array techniques, and advanced signal-analysis methods\nExperience developing, optimizing, or qualifying part-specific ET techniques and inspection procedures for complex hardware\nExperience selecting and optimizing probe type, frequency, gain, filters, scan parameters, calibration standards, and other inspection variables\nExperience designing or supporting development of ET reference standards, fixtures, probes, and inspection tooling\nKnowledge and practical application of relevant industry standards and specifications, including NAS 410, ASTM, AMS, ASME, and applicable customer requirements\nExperience supporting NDE feasibility studies, technique demonstrations, qualification activities, and Probability of Detection (POD) studies\nExperience using CAD models and engineering drawings to support inspection planning and development of part-specific ET techniques\nExperience auditing or providing technical oversight of third-party NDE vendors/suppliers\nExperience with QA/QC, Lean Manufacturing, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement concepts\nAt Relativity Space, we are committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation practices.
