Our mission is to build a finance function that's fast, clean, and scalable as Relay continues to grow. As our Intermediate Accountant, you'll own the day-to-day accounting operations that keep us audit-ready, month-end sharp, and increasingly automated - turning transactional work into a foundation for smarter financial decision-making across the company.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nOwn and automate AP cycle: The AP process is yours to improve - own the full AP cycle to identify manual touch points and drive automation implementation as a result.\n\nSupport month-end close: Partner with the finance team to ensure records are accurate, timely, and ready for reporting - including owning bank reconciliations, adjusting journals, accruals, and variance analysis.\n\nShape spend policy and credit card management: Help build and enforce company-wide spend policy and manage the corporate credit card program - real ownership of a function that touches the entire business\n\nSupport year-end audit preparation: Own your areas of the audit file - prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation\n\nDrive controls and process improvement: You'll actively contribute to building and strengthening internal controls, documenting processes, and identifying gaps - helping the finance function scale with the business.\n\nBuild cross-functional relationships: Work with stakeholders across the business to understand vendor ownership, flag budget concerns, and keep finance processes running smoothly.\n\nDrive automation and efficiency: You won't just execute - you'll be expected to think critically about how we do things and actively look for ways to make it better using AI and automation tools.\n\nMaintain data integrity: Ensure all financial entries and reconciliations meet US GAAP standards and are audit-ready at all times.\n\nRoll up your sleeves on ad hoc projects: Finance moves fast - you'll be pulled into special projects, process improvements, and one-off analyses as the business grows and needs arise.\n\nWho You Are\n1.5+ years of accounting experience in a professional setting - someone who has already rolled up their sleeves and done the work.\n\nCPA or actively pursuing your CPA designation - this is a near-requirement. We want someone building toward the credential, not just executing tasks.\n\nComfortable with AP and month-end workflows - you've had experience with these before and can hit the ground running. We use Rillet as our accounting ERP.\n\nAI-forward mindset - you're curious about automation, not intimidated by it. You may not have built workflows yet, but you're eager to.\n\nStrong cross-functional communicator - you can work with people outside of finance, manage vendor relationships, and represent the finance team professionally.\n\nTech-savvy - experience in a tech environment is a plus; familiarity with US GAAP is an asset.\n\nThe Interview Process\nStage 1: A 45-minute Google Meet video call with a member of the hiring team\n\nStage 2: A take-home case study followed by a 60-minute Google Meet video call with our team\n\nStage 3: A 30-minute chat with our CFO\n\nStage 4: A 45-minute in-person interview with a member of the Leadership team\n\nOur Compensation Approach\nWe believe Relayers should feel rewarded for the impact they have on our mission and growth. Compensation follows impact. As impact increases, compensation grows, and we do not limit compensation changes to a once-a-year review cycle.\nThe annual salary range for this role is $68,400 - $83,600 CAD.\nFor candidates who demonstrate full readiness for the defined scope of the role, the typical starting salary is $76,000 CAD.
