Sr. Backend Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our foundational engineering team. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you will work directly with the leadership team to architect, design, and build a next-generation AI-powered enterprise platform from the ground up. This opportunity is ideal for engineers who thrive in zero-to-one environments and enjoy solving complex technical challenges across backend systems, cloud infrastructure, large-scale data processing, and AI-driven applications. You will play a key role in building scalable, secure, and production-grade systems while owning critical architecture and engineering decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build scalable backend systems using Java and Python.
• Design and develop high-performance APIs, microservices, and distributed applications.
• Build secure and reliable cloud-native infrastructure on AWS.
• Design scalable data processing and analytics pipelines.
• Develop enterprise-grade applications with a focus on performance, security, and reliability.
• Drive system architecture, technical design, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Optimize application performance, availability, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making.
• Infrastructure: Architect and deploy our cloud-native system design entirely on AWS, establishing the core infrastructure for high-scale LLM orchestration and model deployment.
• Backend Services: Build high-performance language analytics and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, delivering clean, lightning-fast data APIs to our custom React frontend.
• Enterprise SaaS Functionality: Design and implement robust enterprise-grade controls, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), advanced data security, real-time collaboration features, and automated subscription billing systems.
• Data and Partner Integrations: Build resilient integration layers to ingest and normalize external data feeds from global patent offices, intellectual property registries, research databases, and strategic partners.
• Frontend Guidance: Act as the technical anchor for our product ecosystem, guiding front-end development to ensure seamless end-to-end integration and exceptional UI performance.
• Growth Optimization: Partner with the business track to design technical instrumentation for product experimentation, user analytics tracking, and conversion marketing funnels.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in Java for building robust backend services.
• Strong experience in Python for API development, automation, and data processing.
• Proven expertise in architecting and building applications on AWS (EKS, EC2 RDS, IAM, S3).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, system design, and cloud architecture.
• Experience building scalable applications or platforms from scratch (0-to-1 development).
• Ability to work independently and take end-to-end ownership of technical initiatives.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced startup environments and wearing multiple hats.
