RELX is a British information and analytics group formed in 1993 through the merger of Reed International and the Dutch publisher Elsevier, and it has since converted a print publishing business into a subscription data company. It operates four divisions: Elsevier in scientific and medical research, risk analytics covering insurance and financial crime screening, legal information through LexisNexis, and the exhibitions business RX. Headquartered in London and listed in London, Amsterdam and New York, it derives the large majority of revenue from electronic products and analytics rather than print.

Product Manager II

Our Company

Elsevier is a global information analytics company that helps institutions and professionals progress science, advance healthcare and improve performance for the benefit of humanity. We serve the research, academic and clinical communities through the application of technology and analytics to content. In this way, we empower those communities to contribute to social progress, to enhance human well-being and to share and expand the breadth of human knowledge.

Job Summary

The Product Manager II, Apply Portfolio will own one or more product features or defined workstreams within Elsevier Healthcare Education's Apply Portfolio, leading execution from discovery through delivery, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement across products including Shadow Health, SimChart, and other current and future Apply Portfolio offerings.

The Apply Portfolio supports healthcare learners and educators through digital products that deliver immersive, practical, and outcomes-focused learning experiences. This role works closely with engineering, design, clinical experts, data and analytics teams, customer success, sales, marketing, implementation partners, and academic customers to understand market needs and deliver valuable solutions across the portfolio.

This is a hands-on product role that combines customer engagement, product discovery, delivery leadership, data analysis, technical collaboration, and go-to-market support. The Product Manager II is a key liaison between customers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional delivery teams - developing a firsthand understanding of customer needs, translating those needs into clear product requirements, and helping prioritize work that addresses meaningful customer, learner, faculty, and business needs. The successful candidate will be curious about data and AI, comfortable working with analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled tools, and motivated to turn product data into actionable insights.

AI is a growing part of this role - both as a capability to build into the product strategy for owned features and workstreams, and as a tool that helps product managers work faster. This role calls for practical fluency with both, alongside the core product skill set above.

Responsibilities

Own the Product Workstream

  • Own one or more Apply Portfolio product features or defined workstreams, including product development plans, requirements, priorities, delivery coordination, and success measures.
  • Manage assigned portions of the product lifecycle, including discovery, planning, development, launch, adoption, measurement, and iteration.
  • Contribute to feature-level vision and priorities, shaping and championing future product direction within the broader Apply Portfolio strategy.
  • Prioritize and communicate production customer issues, defects, and enhancement requests using relevant data and customer impact to support timely resolution.

Understand Customer & Market Needs

  • Interact frequently with customers, faculty, students, sales, customer success, implementation teams, and internal stakeholders to understand goals, workflows, pain points, and unmet needs.
  • Generate and prioritize customer requirements based on firsthand insight, product data, business objectives, and commercial viability.
  • Translate customer and business needs into clear, actionable, and testable requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, prototypes, and supporting documentation.

Drive Data, Analytics & AI Strategy

  • Analyze product usage, customer feedback, adoption trends, operational information, and other data sources to identify insights and inform product decisions.
  • Define product hypotheses and evaluate them quantitatively where appropriate through usage analysis, usability testing, experimentation, and other measurement approaches.
  • Identify the analytics and reporting needed to measure feature adoption, customer value, operational performance, learner and faculty engagement, and business outcomes.
  • Incorporate AI-driven capabilities into the product strategy and roadmap for owned features or workstreams, identifying where AI can meaningfully improve outcomes for learners, faculty, and the business.
  • Apply AI tools and AI-assisted workflows to day-to-day product work - including data synthesis, analysis, requirements drafting, and reporting - to work more efficiently.

Support Go-to-Market & Enablement

  • Lead product demonstrations and milestone reviews for customers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
  • Support launch planning and coordinated delivery with marketing, sales, customer success, implementation, and other customer-facing teams.
  • Provide product input into Train-the-Trainer sessions, customer enablement, onboarding, and market rollout activities.
  • Own or contribute to product-specific content used for sales demonstrations, customer events, training, release communications, and other customer activities.
  • Answer questions from sales and customers regarding feature functionality, value proposition, competitive position, and planned enhancements.

What We're Looking For

  • 3-5 years of experience in product management, business analysis, implementation, customer success, or a related role.
  • Experience working with software products, SaaS platforms, data products, or technology-enabled services.
  • Comfort working with technical concepts such as APIs, data structures, analytics, integrations, and software development workflows.
  • Experience creating product documentation, requirements, user stories, process flows, or other artifacts that support delivery and adoption.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across engineering, design, sales, customer success, and external customer teams.
  • Comfort operating in an environment where priorities may evolve and problems may not have clearly defined solutions.
  • Experience or strong interest in building AI-driven capabilities into product strategy and requirements, along with comfort using AI tools to support day-to-day product work such as requirements drafting, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience in healthcare, nursing education, higher education, clinical simulation, or learning technology is a plus but not required.

About the Level

This is a Product Manager II role - an individual-contributor position for product managers ready to own a defined feature or workstream end-to-end, from discovery through delivery, adoption, and iteration. It carries direct accountability for customer, learner, and business outcomes within a bounded scope, with close collaboration across engineering, data, and go-to-market teams. It's a strong fit for someone building depth in customer-facing product work and data-informed decision-making, with room to grow into ownership of larger, more strategic pieces of the Apply Portfolio over time.

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $95,300 - $158,800. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates. This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
