As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Global Card team, you will own features end to end: the screens customers see, the APIs behind them, and the services that issue cards, hold balances, and move money. You will serve as a key technical voice on a cross-functional team that moves fast and builds with AI in the loop every day, agentic coding tools are part of how we work, not a side experiment, while holding the correctness and trust bar a regulated money product demands. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work in a hybrid capacity from our Arlington, VA office.\nYou Will:\nSet the technical standard: Design and write code that is well-tested, resilient, extensible, and scalable - setting the quality bar for the team and making it easy for others to contribute.\n\nLead team projects: Break down complex features into parallel workstreams, provide delivery estimates, and drive execution from design through launch with a high degree of independence.\n\nGuide engineering excellence: Uphold and exemplify Foundational Excellence standards - including security, reliability, observability, and quality - and proactively identify and resolve risks before they become incidents.\n\nMentor and grow the team: Guide and mentor SDE peers through code reviews, design reviews, and retrospectives. Represent Remitly's cultural values and technical competencies in interviews.\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, and other engineering teams to translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions and deliver on shared outcomes.\n\nCommunicate with clarity: Effectively articulate complex technical problems, trade-offs, and proposals to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nYou Have:\nA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nExpertise in one or more backend or full-stack programming languages (e.g., Go, Kotlin, Java, TypeScript) and the ability to adapt to new languages and frameworks as needed.\n\nExperience designing secure, scalable, and performant software using cloud-based infrastructure solutions (e.g., AWS).\n\nExperience leading projects at the team level, including breaking features into parallel workstreams, estimating timelines, and coaching other engineers through mentoring, reviews, and retrospectives.\n\nDemonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity in product requirements, technical design, and cross-team dependencies while driving decisions to resolution.\n\nAbility to articulate best practices for error handling, observability, and operational excellence.\n\n5+ years of software engineering experience in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.\n\nCompensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $180,000-$225,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
