If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career-we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.\nAbout the Role:\nWe are looking for a Software Development Engineer II (SDE2) to join the Trust Experience (TREX) team within the Identity & Trust organization.\nTREX builds and operates the systems that collect and manage the evidence Remitly uses to verify customers: questions, document and selfie capture, evidence requests, and verified identity data from external providers. Our platform runs on AWS and supports high-availability services that are critical to customer onboarding, the customer experience, and Remitly's regulatory obligations. Many of these services handle sensitive customer data, so reliability, security, and care with that data are core to the work.\nAs an SDE2, you will design and build high-quality backend services and APIs across a subset of the team's systems. You will operate independently in code construction, testing, deployment, and maintenance. You will own features end-to-end, handle challenging problems with clear constraints and trade-offs, and contribute to improving system quality, reliability, and performance.\nYou Will:\nDesign and implement modular, maintainable backend services and APIs.\nOwn features or functional areas from technical design through production support.\nContribute to design discussions and propose trade-offs for consideration.\nWork with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. DynamoDB) and file/object storage to implement reliable, secure data access patterns for sensitive customer data.\nIntegrate with third-party identity and document-verification vendors.\nImprove code quality, testing, deployment, logging, and monitoring practices.\nProvide thoughtful code and design reviews.\nIdentify and mitigate technical and delivery risks.\nPartner with engineers, Product, Design, and Compliance/Risk stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.\nSupport onboarding of new engineers and contribute to a strong team culture.\nYou Have:\n3+ years of professional software development experience.\nExperience using AI throughout the software development lifecycle.\nProficiency in at least one back end language such as Kotlin, Java, Go, or Python.\nProficiency in at least one front end language such as ReactJS or Vue.\nExperience building and operating production services.\nExperience working with cloud platforms such as AWS.\nExperience with relational and non-relational databases.\nStrong software design fundamentals with the ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable code.\nExperience writing automated tests and working within CI/CD environments.\nAbility to communicate technical ideas clearly within a team setting.\nBonus Points:\nExperience with DynamoDB or other large-scale NoSQL data stores.\nExperience working on distributed systems.\nExperience with GraphQL or API gateway design.\nExperience with document or image processing, or integrating third-party verification vendors.\nFamiliarity with handling sensitive or regulated data (PII, KYC/identity verification).\nFamiliarity with observability and operational best practices.\nCompensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is $124,000 - $155,000. In Canada, Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
