This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building and executing the commissioning process as we move from our first commercial deployment to a growing fleet of systems. You’llwork closely with Engineering, Controls, Field Service, Project Management, and Operations to safely bring systems online, troubleshoot issues in the field, validateperformance, and establish a repeatable commissioning model that can scale with our deployment pipeline. \nWe’re building modular carbon capture systems, turning exhaust into beverage-grade CO₂ sold to breweries and greenhouses. We deploy in regions facing severe CO₂ shortages, where prices are highest, allowing us to generate high margins without relying on tax credits or carbon credits. \nWe’ve raised over $115 million in funding from top investors including Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners.\nResponsibilities \nOwn the commissioning process from mechanical completion through startup, performance validation, and handoff to Operations.\nDevelop and maintain commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, test protocols, acceptance criteria, and documentation. \nLead onsite startup and commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and process systems. \nCoordinate commissioning schedules and resources across Engineering, Project Management, Operations, contractors, vendors, and customer sites. \nLead troubleshooting of complex system issues during startup and commissioning, driving problems through root-cause identification and resolution. \nVerify equipment installation, controls functionality, instrumentation, interlocks, alarms, and safety systems prior to startup. \nExecute and document system performance testing to confirm equipment meets defined operational and engineering requirements. \nIdentify commissioning risks and issues early and develop mitigation plans to protect deployment schedules. \nPartner with Engineering to improve system reliability, maintainability, operability, and ease of commissioning. \nBuild standardized commissioning processes that allow Remora to efficiently deploy multiple systems in parallel. \nRequirements \n7+ years of experience in commissioning, startup, field engineering, operations, or deployment of complex industrial equipment or process systems.\nExperience leading the commissioning and startup of industrial equipment from installation through operational handoff. \nStrong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, controls, instrumentation, and process systems. \nHands-on experience troubleshooting equipment and system-level issues in the field. \nExperience developing commissioning plans, procedures, test protocols, punch lists, and acceptance criteria. \nStrong understanding of PLC/controls systems, instrumentation, industrial electrical systems, and process equipment. \nExperience coordinating cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and field personnel during startup and commissioning. \nAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, control narratives, equipment specifications, and technical documentation. \nWillingness to travel extensively to deployment sites as required. \nHere’s what we value:\nMission First: We are laser-focused on our mission.
