This is foundational work at one of the most consequential intersections of space exploration, clean energy and advanced computing, and the team is building the engineering foundation to make it commercially viable.\nThey are hiring their Technical Program Lead: a rare individual who combines deep engineering discipline (mechanical or systems) with demonstrated experience managing complex, multidisciplinary programs and leading technical teams. This is not a pure individual-contributor role, nor a purely managerial one. You will bring hands-on technical credibility and the organizational ability to drive a program from concept through execution in an early-stage, high-ambiguity environment.\nThe search is deliberately selective. The company is building something that has never been done before, and it needs an engineer who has worked at the frontier of their field, knows how to lead people under pressure, and is motivated by a mission that matters beyond the next product cycle\n.\nTwo Profiles We Will Consider\nCandidates from either of these two backgrounds will be considered. In both cases, a master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is a meaningful advantage and will be weighted accordingly.\nProfile 1: Mechanical Engineer with Program Management Experience\nA degreed mechanical engineer with meaningful aerospace or space systems experience\nHas held a formal program or project management role, accountable for schedule, cost, scope, and team performance, not only a technical lead role\nHas managed engineers or cross-functional technical staff directly\nUnderstands how mechanical systems intersect with thermal, structural, propulsion, and mission design in a space context\nHas worked on hardware that has been built, tested, or operated in a demanding environment, ideally flight or flight-like\nProfile 2: Systems Engineer with Formal Systems Engineering Training\nHolds formal training in systems engineering methodology (INCOSE, model based systems engineering, or equivalent)\nHas led or contributed at the systems-architecture level on a complex aerospace or defense program\nHas managed projects and people, not only requirements documents\nUnderstands requirements decomposition, interface management, verification and validation planning, and system-level trade studies at a practical level\nBrings the discipline to hold a system together across subsystems and stakeholders at the same time\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Leadership\nServe as the senior technical and programmatic lead responsible for driving the development of core mission systems and subsystems\nEngage directly in handson technical work (architecture, analysis, design review and trade studies) at the depth of a senior individual contributor\nHold the system together across subsystems through requirements decomposition, interface management, and verification and validation planning\nProgram Management\nOwn or contribute to program planning, milestone tracking, resource management and cross-functional coordination\nTake direct responsibility for schedule, technical performance and team output, and present technical and programmatic status to leadership\nTeam Leadership\nLead a small but growing team of engineers, setting technical direction and maintaining accountability for deliverables\nHire, direct and develop engineers as the team grows\nPartners and Vendors\nInterface with external partners, vendors, and subject matter experts as the program requires\nBuilding the Organization\nContribute to the processes, tools, and workflows that will scale as the organization grows\nOperate effectively in an environment with significant ambiguity, limited precedent, and high stakes, creating structure where none exists yet\nRequirements\nBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a closely related technical discipline\nSignificant experience in aerospace, defense, or space systems, with a strong preference for work on flight or mission-critical hardware\nDemonstrated experience in program or project management, including direct responsibility for schedule, technical performance, and team output\nExperience managing engineers or technical personnel: hiring, directing, and developing people\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical and programmatic status to a leadership audience\nComfort operating independently in an early-stage environment where structure must sometimes be created rather than followed\nAll communication for this role is in English, including your resume and every application requirement\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related field (weighted in the evaluation)\nFormal systems engineering training or certification (INCOSE CSEP, MBSE, or equivalent)\nExperience with space resource utilization, in-situ resource utilization (ISRU), planetary science, or lunar mission architecture\nExposure to fusion energy, cryogenic systems, or quantum computing hardware (any one of these is notable; not all are expected)\nPrior experience at an aerospace startup, NewSpace company, or early-stage deep-tech organization\nTools & Software\nNo single toolset is required; experience with tools like these is relevant\nRequirements management and model-based systems engineering tools (for example SysML-based modelling)\nMechanical CAD and structural or thermal analysis tools\nScheduling and program-control tools (for example Microsoft Project or Primavera), including earned value reporting\nMicrosoft Excel for budgets, margin roll-ups, trackers and analysis\nWhat Makes You a Great Fit\nYou have built or tested real hardware, and you can tell the story of the test that did not go to plan.\nYou give leadership bad news early, with the numbers and the options.\nYou can run a trade study yourself, and you can defend the weights.\nYou develop the engineers around you instead of quietly doing their work for them.\nYou build just enough structure for a small team, and you know what to leave out.\nYou are motivated by a mission that matters beyond the next product cycle.\nBenefits\nWhat We Offer\nUp to $10/hour\n100% remote work\nFull-time role\nWe hire for the long haul, so a steady track record of staying and growing always moves you up our list.\nTo apply:\nEnsure your LinkedIn profile and resume are up-to-date and comprehensive (submit a comprehensive resume in English, PDF format), and complete the assessment in this link:
