The ideal candidate will be able to operate equipment productively and safely with limited direction from the foreman while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and teamwork.\nKey Responsibilities\nOperate excavators and other heavy equipment used for underground utility installation.\n\nSafely excavate around existing underground utilities and infrastructure.\n\nMaintain proper trench dimensions, depth, grade, and alignment.\n\nWork closely with pipe layers, laborers, and the foreman to keep projects moving efficiently.\n\nPerform daily equipment inspections and report any safety or mechanical concerns.\n\nFollow all trenching, excavation, and jobsite safety requirements.\n\nRecognize changing or unsafe conditions and stop work when conditions or plans are unclear.\n\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.\n\nFollow project plans, specifications, and direction from the foreman.\n\nQualifications & Experience\nDemonstrated underground utility construction experience required.\n\nProven experience operating excavators and other construction equipment.\n\nExperience working around existing underground utilities.\n\nStrong understanding of trench safety and excavation practices.\n\nAbility to maintain required grades, elevations, and trench requirements.\n\nAbility to work independently with limited supervision.\n\nStrong communication and teamwork skills.\n\nReliable attendance and a strong commitment to safety.\n\nAbility to identify unsafe or unclear conditions and communicate concerns before proceeding.\n\nPhysical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
