We hope your conversations with us reflect a thoughtful process that is illuminative, enjoyable, and respectful of your time.\nAbout the Role\nAs Senior Engineering Manager for Agent Platform & UX, you will lead two teams reimagining Render's onboarding and activation experience for both humans and AI agents.\nOne team owns the experience a person sees the first time they come to Render: signup, onboarding, activation, and what drives them to adopt more of the platform. The other team builds the equivalent experience for agents, which reach Render through APIs rather than the UI, integrating with providers like Codex, Claude, and Cursor so agents can use Render the way humans do. You'll take an already-forming org through its next stage of growth.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead and grow two teams, UX (human onboarding and activation) and Agent Platform (the equivalent experience for agents via programmatic interfaces like the MCP, CLI, API, SDK, and Blueprints)\n\nOwn the roadmap for Render's self-serve user journey, from first touch through activation, initial monetization, usage expansion, new feature adoption, and PQL graduation\n\nDrive the agent-facing side of the platform: build the API-driven experience that lets agents integrate with and operate on Render\n\nPartner with the dedicated product and design partners on both teams to align roadmap with customer, growth, and platform needs\n\nHire and develop engineers to support planned team growth, while keeping both teams' identities and focus areas clear as they scale\n\nMake key architectural and product decisions, balancing long-term platform investment against iterative improvements to onboarding and activation\n\nBuild a strong performance management and career development practice for a team that already includes senior ICs\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nStrong people leadership - the top priority for this role\n\nHands-on enough to review code, prototype, and contribute directly when it helps the team\n\nComfort operating in ambiguity, with adaptability and a growth mindset\n\nProven experience building and scaling more than one team, ideally growing a group from a handful of engineers into a larger org\n\nExperience managing and developing senior (IC5+) engineers, including hiring and performance management\n\nAbility to partner closely with product and design without needing to fill those functions yourself\n\nStrong product instincts, with the ability to connect engineering investment to growth and activation outcomes\n\nBackground from either a startup or a larger company is fine.
