The position is responsible for driving yield improvement, supporting new product introduction and manufacturing transfers, performing yield and defect data analysis, and providing technical support for foundry manufacturing issues.\nThe engineer will work closely with external foundry partners and cross-functional internal teams to ensure robust manufacturing performance, successful product ramp, effective excursion resolution, and continuous improvement in yield, quality, cost, and engineering efficiency.\n Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field.\n\nSolid understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, device fundamentals, and manufacturing/yield engineering.\n\nRelevant experience in semiconductor yield engineering, process engineering, process integration, product engineering, or foundry engineering.\n\nStrong experience with manufacturing and yield data analysis, including inline, electrical test, wafer sort, defect, and wafer-level data.\n\nStrong statistical problem-solving and root-cause-analysis skills.\n\nExperience with statistical/data-analysis tools such as JMP, Spotfire, Exensio/PDF, or equivalent.\n\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively with external manufacturing partners and cross-functional engineering teams.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working with semiconductor foundries or outsourced wafer manufacturing.\n\nExperience with NPI, manufacturing transfer, qualification, safe launch, and production ramp.\n\nKnowledge of SPC, Cp/Cpk, D0/defect-density analysis, wafer-map analysis, correlation analysis, and statistical data mining.\n\nExperience resolving complex manufacturing yield excursions and driving corrective actions.\n\nExperience developing automated data-analysis or reporting workflows.\n\nExposure to AI/ML-assisted semiconductor data analytics is a plus.\n\n Key Responsibilities\nFoundry Yield Improvement\nMonitor and analyze manufacturing yield, defect, inline, electrical test, wafer sort, and related production data.\n\nIdentify yield-loss mechanisms and improvement opportunities through statistical analysis, wafer-level analysis, correlation, and data mining.\n\nPartner with foundries and internal engineering teams to develop and implement yield-improvement actions.\n\nBenchmark foundry performance and identify opportunities to improve yield entitlement and manufacturing cost.\n\nNPI, Manufacturing Transfer & Safe Launch\nSupport new product introduction, manufacturing transfer, qualification, safe launch, and production ramp activities.\n\nDevelop data-analysis and monitoring plans to assess manufacturing readiness and identify potential risks.\n\nTrack yield and manufacturing performance during product introduction and ramp and drive issues to closure.\n\nSupport qualification and transfer schedules through effective collaboration with foundry and internal stakeholders.\n\nYield Excursion & Quality Support\nPerform timely analysis of low-yield events, manufacturing excursions, abnormal defect patterns, and other quality-related issues.\n\nCorrelate manufacturing, electrical, and test data to support root-cause identification.\n\nWork with foundry, Product Engineering, Quality, Test Engineering, and other technical teams on containment, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.\n\nProvide data-driven technical recommendations for manufacturing disposition and risk assessment.\n\nData Analytics & Yield Engineering Tools\nApply statistical and visualization tools such as JMP, Spotfire, Exensio/PDF, or equivalent platforms for yield analysis and data mining.\n\nDevelop and improve reusable analysis methods, dashboards, and reports to increase engineering efficiency.\n\nSupport evaluation, user acceptance testing, and deployment of new yield-analysis capabilities and engineering tools.\n\nExplore automation and AI/ML-assisted approaches to improve yield analytics and engineering productivity.\n\nTechnical Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration\nServe as a technical interface between external foundries and internal engineering organizations.\n\nLead or participate in regular technical interlock meetings covering yield, manufacturing capacity, excursions, NPI, and manufacturing transfers.\n\nCommunicate technical findings, risks, recommendations, and improvement plans clearly to engineering teams and management.\n\nDevelop and maintain engineering documentation, analysis methodologies, and best practices.\n\nRenesas is an embedded semiconductor solution provider driven by its Purpose, To Make Our Lives Easier.
