We're seeking highly motivated team leaders and members who want to make a significant positive impact on climate change and are excited to work in a collaborative team setting.\nThe RenewCO₂ leadership team includes experts in electrochemical catalysis and industrial systems, including Dr. Anders Laursen, Dr. Karin Calvinho, and Dr. Chock Karuppaiah, along with industry leaders such as Arne Ballantine (Founder, Ohmium; former Bloom Energy CEO) and Srushti Parhar (ex-Bloom Energy, software industry veteran). Additional leadership team members bring deep expertise from the chemicals and oil & gas sectors across U.S. and Japanese markets and will actively mentor and support selected candidates.\nRole Overview\nRenewCO2 is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to design and support the build of mechanical systems for CO₂ electrolyzer equipment (electrochemical stack testers, test stations, and prototype systems). The mechanical engineer will develop system layouts, P&IDs, and SolidWorks designs for cell components, manifolds, piping, and equipment skids, as well as support integration of process equipment into these products. The responsibilities will include performing engineering calculations, defining bills of materials, and preparing manufacturing drawings - and working hands-on with fabrication vendors and technicians through assembly, testing, and commissioning.\nType: Full-time, in person at our office and laboratory in Chikkaballapur (Bengaluru region)\nRoles and responsibilities:\nDevelop mechanical system concepts, layouts, and equipment designs for CO₂ electrolyzer systems, test stations, and associated process equipment\nCreate 3D parts, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks\nInterpret and contribute to PFDs and P&IDs, translating process requirements into mechanical system layouts and defining piping, tubing, equipment, and interface requirements\nPerform engineering calculations to support design decisions, component sizing, and evaluation of design options\nDesign mechanical components and assemblies, including electrolyzer cell components, plates, manifolds, enclosures, brackets, panels, frames, supports, fixtures, and equipment skids\nPrepare manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication notes\nDesign components for sheet metal work, machining, welding, 3D printing, and other relevant manufacturing processes\nPrepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), equipment specifications, and engineering documentation\nSupport integration of pumps, valves, regulators, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, tubing, and other process equipment into test systems\nApply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), material selection, and reliability considerations to mechanical designs\nCoordinate with fabrication and machining vendors on manufacturability, component selection, and resolution of design or manufacturing issues\nParticipate hands-on in prototype builds, fabrication, equipment assembly, installation, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning\nUpdate designs with feedback and lessons learned from fabrication, assembly, and testing\nWork closely with the Electrical, Controls, and Process teams on equipment layout and system integration\nMaintain accurate CAD files, drawing revisions, BOMs, assembly documentation, and work instructions\nRequired Qualifications\nM.Tech / B.Tech / B.E in Mechanical Engineering or a related branch.\nStrong command of mechanical engineering fundamentals.\nProficiency in SolidWorks for 3D part modelling, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings\nAbility to perform engineering design calculations and clearly justify design decisions\nWorking knowledge of P&IDs, mechanical system layouts, tolerances, fits, fasteners, material selection, machining, welding, and sheet metal design\nAbility to prepare clear manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation\nAbility to learn quickly, take ownership of assigned activities, and work independently with minimal supervision\nStrong written and verbal communication, with technical documentation that allows colleagues to understand and verify design decisions\nGood problem-solving skills and attention to detail\nWhy join RenewCO2\nWork on cutting-edge CO₂ electrolysis and climate technologies\nDirect exposure to scale-up and real-world system building, from laboratory testers through pilot systems\nMentorship from operating leaders with prior experience building electrolyzer and fuel cell companies\nEarly-stage involvement that allows your design standards to shape the platform as it scales commercially\nOpportunity to grow rapidly with a deep-tech startup from an early stage\nEqual Opportunity Statement\nRenewCO2 is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
