Working closely with Functional Test, Flying Probe, Product Development, and Manufacturing Engineering teams, you will develop bespoke PCBs, signal conditioning circuits, and test interface hardware to improve fault diagnosis, product quality, and manufacturing capability.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a combination of electronic design, practical problem-solving, and component-level fault finding, while working on a broad range of advanced electronic products and technologies.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain analogue and digital electronic circuits to support manufacturing and test activities.\nDesign and develop bespoke PCBs, signal conditioning circuits, interface cards, and test hardware for use within manufacturing and engineering test solutions.\nProvide expert electronics fault diagnosis and investigation down to component level across a wide range of products and technologies.\nSupport Functional Test and Flying Probe teams with complex fault investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.\nWork closely with Product Development teams to improve product diagnosability, manufacturability, and testability.\nCreate and maintain design documentation, including schematics, PCB layouts, bills of materials, and technical reports.\nSupport New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through the development of hardware solutions required for validation, debugging, and manufacturing support.\nInvestigate recurring manufacturing issues and implement hardware-based improvements to increase product quality and production efficiency.\nContribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing test capabilities through the introduction of new technologies, methodologies, and design approaches.\nKey Requirements\nDegree qualified in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or HNC/HND with significant relevant industrial experience.\nStrong understanding of analogue and digital electronic circuit design.\nProven experience designing electronic hardware, including signal conditioning circuits, schematic capture, and PCB layout using CR-8000 or similar ECAD tools.\nStrong electronics troubleshooting and fault-finding skills down to component level.\nAbility to interpret complex schematics and investigate circuit behaviour using laboratory test equipment.\nExperience supporting manufacturing, production engineering, test engineering, or product development activities.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to fault investigation.\nAbility to communicate technical information effectively within multidisciplinary teams.\nDesirable Skills and Experience\nExperience designing hardware for manufacturing test, automated test equipment (ATE), or product validation.\nKnowledge of Functional Test, Flying Probe, In-Circuit Test (ICT), and Boundary Scan methodologies.\nExperience developing mixed-signal electronics involving analogue, digital, and embedded technologies.\nFamiliarity with NI LabVIEW and TestStand environments.\nExperience using Zuken CR-8000 for schematic capture and PCB design, or equivalent ECAD tools.\nPractical experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, logic analysers, and other electronic test equipment.\nSoftware development experience using Python, C#, C++, or similar languages.\nUnderstanding of EMC, signal integrity, and robust electronic design practices.\nPerson Specification\nA practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems.\nStrong attention to detail and a methodical approach to investigation and design.\nAn effective communicator capable of working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.\nComfortable balancing design activities with hands-on laboratory and manufacturing support.\nSelf-motivated and proactive, with a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.\nPassionate about electronics and developing innovative solutions that deliver measurable business benefits.\nResults-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to agreed timescales.\nBenefits\nWhen you join Renishaw, we're committing to your future career.
