This is a multidisciplinary engineering role focused on the development of automated assembly and test systems used throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept evaluation through to full production. Working within a focused and collaborative team, you will design, develop, validate and implement innovative test rigs, manufacturing processes and automation solutions, combining mechanical, electrical and software engineering disciplines to deliver robust and capable systems.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop automated assembly and test systems for new and existing products. \nWork closely with product development teams from concept through to production to define process and test requirements. \nDesign, prototype and validate test equipment, tooling, fixtures and manufacturing processes. \nDevelop software solutions using technologies such as C#, LabVIEW, PLC and SQL to control, monitor and analyse automated systems. \nIntegrate sensors, instrumentation, motion control and data acquisition technologies into complex test environments. \nAnalyse test and process data to validate performance, capability and measurement system effectiveness. \nProduce clear documentation including requirements specifications, design documentation, validation reports and handover information. \nWork with manufacturing, NPI, project teams and specialist engineering groups to ensure solutions are safe, robust, efficient and manufacturable. \nInvestigate production and yield issues, identifying improvements to both products and processes. \nSupport continuous improvement activities across assembly, test and manufacturing operations. \nManage or support the sourcing, procurement and implementation of equipment and tooling required for new processes. \nKey Requirements\nDegree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering or a related discipline. \nExperience with software development (e.g. C#, LabVIEW, PLC) for the design or support of automated test systems, manufacturing equipment, and production processes. \nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. \nAbility to analyse data and apply engineering judgement to drive decisions and improvements. \nExperience working within a structured engineering environment, including design reviews, validation activities and documentation. \nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team. \nDesire to be hands on outside of the core day-to-day functions, debugging rig issues or satisfying customer orders where necessary (bespoke rig builds). \nDesirable Requirements\nUnderstanding of precision assembly or manufacturing processes. \nKnowledge of statistical process control, Gauge R&R, MSA, CpK and process capability analysis. \nExperience with CAD packages such as Siemens NX or equivalent. \nUnderstanding of electrical design, control systems or industrial communications. \nFamiliarity with Azure DevOps or similar project management and software version control tools. \nExperience developing production test equipment or manufacturing automation solutions. \nKnowledge of DfM, DfA, Process FMEA or Six Sigma methodologies. \nPerson Specification\nThe successful applicant will be a curious and proactive engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges.
