As part of our continued investment in advanced manufacturing and automation, we are seeking a talented Controls & Automation Engineer to join our engineering team.\nThis is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative manufacturing equipment and automation projects, taking ownership of control system design, software development, machine integration and commissioning activities across a diverse range of applications.\nResponsibilities\nAs a Controls & Automation Engineer, you will design, develop and support control systems for production machinery and automated equipment. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through to commissioning and continuous improvement.\nKey responsibilities include:\nDesigning and developing PLC and HMI control systems for automated machinery.\nProgramming, testing and commissioning control software.\nIntegrating robotics, motion control systems, drives and industrial communication networks.\nSupporting machine safety assessments and implementing safe control system solutions.\nProducing technical documentation, specifications and commissioning reports.\nSupporting factory acceptance testing, installation and commissioning activities.\nTroubleshooting and improving existing manufacturing equipment to enhance performance, reliability and productivity.\nCollaborating with mechanical, electrical, software and manufacturing engineers to deliver innovative engineering solutions.\nProviding technical guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders where required.\nKey requirements\nA degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control Systems, Automation, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.\nProven experience in industrial automation, controls engineering and machine commissioning.\nExperience programming PLC-based control systems and developing HMI applications.\nKnowledge of industrial networks, motion control systems and variable speed drives.\nThe ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.\nStrong fault-finding, problem-solving and analytical skills.\nExcellent communication and teamwork abilities.\nDesirable requirements\nIt would be advantageous if you have experience with:\nIndustrial robotics and automation integration.\nMachine safety and functional safety standards.\nVision inspection systems.\nIndustry 4.0 and connected manufacturing technologies.\nManufacturing environments such as precision engineering, automotive, pharmaceutical or packaging industries.\nPerson specification\nYou will be a highly organised and proactive engineer with excellent problem-solving and fault-finding abilities, capable of communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Comfortable leading technical discussions and influencing project outcomes, you will combine strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
