We welcome candidates with transferable engineering experience and the potential to develop in the role. Please use your application to explain how your skills and experience relate to process development and manufacturing.\nThe role sits within a New Product Introduction environment and focuses on turning product concepts and prototypes into safe, controlled, robust, capable and efficient assembly and test processes. You will collaborate with product design teams and manufacturing stakeholders to define build strategies, reduce manufacturing risk, validate processes and transfer them into production.\nResponsibilities\nWork closely with product design and wider engineering teams to develop assembly and test strategies for new products.\nTranslate product requirements into practical, manufacturable processes using design for assembly and manufacture principles.\nDesign, develop, introduce and improve processes for product assembly and testing.\nPlan and complete prototype builds, trials and pilot validation batches to demonstrate process readiness.\nSpecify and project-manage the sourcing, manufacture, installation and introduction of equipment, tooling and production controls.\nIdentify and reduce safety, quality, delivery and cost risks through robust process design, risk assessment and appropriate validation.\nAnalyse process and test data to understand capability, variation and opportunities for improvement.\nProduce clear technical documentation, reports and handover information to support transfer into manufacturing.\nCollaborate with operators, suppliers and stakeholders across engineering, quality and manufacturing.\nSupport continuous improvement in quality, yield, first-time pass rate, efficiency and cost\nLead complex or higher-risk process development projects from definition through to production handover.\nSet technical direction, make proportionate engineering decisions and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.\nCoordinate work across disciplines, suppliers and manufacturing sites, managing priorities, dependencies, cost and delivery.\nProvide technical review, coaching and guidance to less experienced engineers and share good practice across the team.\nDrive improvements to engineering methods, standards and process-development approaches.\nKey requirements\nAn HNC, degree or equivalent learning in an engineering discipline, or relevant practical experience that demonstrates comparable capability.\nA sound engineering foundation and the ability to apply structured problem-solving to manufacturing or technical challenges.\nSome experience of developing, introducing, supporting or improving an assembly, test or manufacturing process.\nThe ability to organise your work, maintain accurate documentation and communicate technical information clearly.\nA collaborative approach and willingness to learn from, and contribute to, a multidisciplinary team.\nAwareness of the importance of safety, quality, risk and process control in a manufacturing environment.\nDesirable requirements\nPrecision, optical, mechatronic, electrical or electromechanical assembly and test.\nDesign for assembly or manufacture, Process FMEA, control plans, measurement system analysis, statistical process control or capability studies.\nProduction control, automation, industrial equipment or data-acquisition technologies.\nTooling, fixture or equipment design and introduction.\nSix Sigma, structured root-cause analysis or continuous-improvement methods.\nWorking with suppliers and transferring processes between development and manufacturing sites.\nPerson specification\nYou will be curious, practical and methodical, with the initiative to develop effective solutions and the judgement to seek support when needed. You will be comfortable balancing technical detail with delivery priorities, building constructive working relationships and adapting your communication to different audiences.
