On site full time.\nReports to: Life Science Engineer, Supervisor where the assigned site has one. Site Operations Manager where it does not. At small sites that run neither, the site OSS Lead, with technical escalation to the Regional Director of Operations, and the Technical Center of Excellence\nWhy Renovo?\nRenovo Solutions is a nationwide healthcare and life sciences technology management company. We offer a range of opportunities for employees to grow within the company. With a presence in 40+ states and a growing international footprint, we provide comprehensive solutions for managing and maintaining the equipment our clients depend on. We prioritize investing in our employees' development, offering various phases and advancement paths. Through ongoing training, mentorship programs, and a supportive work environment, we foster professional growth and promote from within. Join our team to make a difference while advancing your career with Renovo.\nSummary:\nThe Life Science Engineer II performs hands-on service on laboratory instrumentation at an assigned client site. Calibration, scheduled maintenance, demand maintenance, diagnostics and repair are performed by this role rather than routed to a vendor.\nThis is the mid rung of the Life Science Engineer ladder, defined by independence and platform depth. The role works without daily technical supervision, diagnoses beyond the manufacturer service manual, and holds qualification across more than one instrument family. It is the rung at which an engineer can be placed alone at a site.\nThe role also reviews work performed by OEM and third-party service providers. Where a vendor performs a significant share of the service, this role verifies the diagnosis, checks that the quoted repair matches the reported fault, and confirms the work was completed to specification before it is approved for payment. It also builds the technical and usage case for whether Renovo can self-perform platforms that are currently vendor-serviced, including tooling, training and documentation requirements.\nAt small sites with no supervisory seats, the role reports to the site OSS Lead for work allocation, priority and site coordination. Diagnosis, the return-to-service decision and platform qualification remain technical decisions and escalate technically to the Regional Director of Operations and the Technical Center of Excellence. A disagreement on whether an instrument is fit to release is settled technically, not by reporting line.\nWhat you will do:\nService delivery:\nPerform calibration, scheduled maintenance (SM), demand maintenance (DM), diagnostics and repair across the assigned site asset base.\nDiagnose faults independently, including faults not covered by the manufacturer service manual.\nVerify instrument performance against manufacturer specification before returning it to service, and make the return-to-service decision within qualification.\nSupport instrument installation, relocation, qualification and decommissioning.\nCover satellite locations assigned to the site, including remote technical support where an in-person visit is not needed.\nRespond to laboratory requests for support on instruments within scope.\nTechnical review of vendor and OEM work:\nReview vendor and OEM diagnoses, and raise a diagnosis that does not match the observed fault.\nReview quoted repairs and flag scope or cost that is disproportionate to the fault before the quote is approved.\nVerify that vendor work was completed to specification, beyond confirming that the engineer attended and the report was signed.\nWitness vendor work on critical instrumentation and on platforms Renovo is qualifying for self-perform.\nProvide the technical basis for the Lab Liaison or OSS Lead to approve or reject a vendor invoice.\nSelf-perform expansion:\nIdentify assets and platforms where Renovo self-perform service is technically viable, and build the case with usage, failure and cost evidence.\nSpecify the tooling, test equipment, parts and training needed to take on a platform currently serviced by a vendor.\nComplete and document the qualification path on newly in-scope platforms.\nTrack first-time-fix and repeat-fault patterns and act on what they show.\nAdvise on repair versus replace, end of life and capital replacement candidates.\nWorking independently at site:\nOperate without daily technical supervision, and judge correctly when a fault needs escalation to the Life Science Engineer, Supervisor or Lead, or the Technical Center of Excellence.\nPlan and sequence own work against the site scheduled maintenance plan and the demand maintenance queue.\nCoordinate directly with laboratory staff on access, timing and instrument availability.\nWhere the site has no resident technical peer, keep a working relationship with a named engineer at a paired hub site for second-opinion diagnostics and coverage during absence.\nWhere reporting to an OSS Lead, hold the technical position on diagnosis, release and qualification, and escalate technical questions through the technical path.\nContribute to procedure and work instruction improvements based on field experience.\nWorking in the laboratory:\nKeep a professional, visible presence in assigned laboratories and communicate directly with laboratory staff.\nTell laboratory staff what is wrong, what is being done and when the instrument will be available, without waiting to be asked.\nDistinguish operator, method, consumable, sample and environmental issues from a genuine instrument fault, and explain the difference clearly.\nCoordinate access and timing with laboratory staff so maintenance does not collide with critical scientific work.\nData and record accountability:\nOwn the accuracy of the technical record for work performed, including fault found, action taken, parts used and labor time.\nUpdate asset location, status and configuration in the system of record after any work that changes them.\nClose work orders with complete and accurate data so reporting, invoicing and contractual KPIs hold up.\nRaise record discrepancies found in the field rather than working around them.\nWhere the site operates a system of record separate from the account platform, keep the technical record accurate in both and flag reconciliation gaps.\nQuality, compliance and safety:\nComplete all documentation to GxP and client quality system requirements.\nSupport audits, quality reviews and regulatory inspections with technical evidence.\nMaintain calibration status and traceability of assigned test equipment.\nFollow laboratory safety requirements including biological, chemical, electrical and cryogenic hazards.\nExercise stop-work authority when a task cannot be performed safely, and escalate rather than proceed.\nEscort and vendor hosting (a standing expectation of every site-based role):\nEscort and host OEM and third-party personnel in client laboratories and equipment areas on request, whichever party holds the service scope.\nConfirm third-party personnel are inducted, badged, trained and meet client site access and safety requirements before they enter a laboratory.\nStay with third-party personnel while they work where the area, the hazard or the client requires continuous accompaniment.\nConfirm the work matches what was authorized, the area is left clean and safe, and the service record is complete before the third party leaves. Route the record for invoice verification.\nEscalate right away if a third party arrives unannounced, without correct documentation, or begins work outside the authorized scope.\nQualifications:\n4+ years of hands-on service experience on laboratory or analytical instrumentation, or equivalent biomedical equipment service experience.\nDemonstrated independent qualification on more than one instrument family, which may include chromatography, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, plate-based detection, centrifugation, incubation or laboratory automation.\nDemonstrated ability to diagnose faults beyond the manufacturer service manual.\nDemonstrated ability to review a vendor diagnosis or quote on technical grounds.\nExperience working without daily technical supervision, including sole-engineer or lone-working assignments.\nExperience working inside a client facility as an embedded service provider strongly preferred.\nWorking knowledge of GxP requirements, calibration traceability and data integrity expectations.\nExperience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).\nExperience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or research environment strongly preferred.\nEducation/Special Training:\nAssociate degree or technical diploma in electronics, instrumentation, engineering technology, biomedical equipment technology or a related field. Equivalent experience or military technical training considered.\nOEM platform training on relevant instrument families required or supported after hire.\nTraining in laboratory safety, GxP and data integrity provided or required.\nTraining on any site-specific system of record used at the assigned location provided after hire.\nProgression toward CBET or equivalent certification supported.\nRequired Competencies:\nTechnical Depth - qualified across more than one platform and diagnoses beyond the manual.\nIndependence - works without daily technical supervision and escalates at the right point.\nTechnical Judgment - determines what is genuinely wrong before client money is spent on it.\nCommercial Awareness - recognizes a vendor quote that does not match the fault, and says so.\nAccountability - owns the instrument outcome, not just the work order.\nDocumentation Discipline - writes a record that another engineer and an auditor can both use.\nCommunication - keeps laboratory staff informed without being asked, and holds a technical conversation with a vendor engineer as a peer.\nSafety Awareness - holds the standard and stops work when it is not safe.\nIntegrity - can admit mistakes, is direct and truthful, and acts in the best interest of clients, employees and Renovo.\nSuccess Measures:\nScheduled maintenance completion against plan\nDemand maintenance response and resolution time\nFirst-time-fix rate and repeat-fault rate\nFaults resolved on site without OEM engagement\nVendor diagnoses and quotes reviewed, and value reduced or avoided\nVendor work verified to specification before invoice approval\nSelf-perform conversion candidates identified, qualified and delivered\nPlatform qualifications completed against the training plan\nTechnical record and work order data accuracy\nUptime and availability of critical instrumentation\nSafety performance and audit outcomes\nSafety Requirements:\nAbide by and follow Renovo safety policies, procedures, and injury and illness prevention expectations.\nMaintain a safe working environment for self and others when visiting customer sites, laboratories, offices, or operational environments.\nFollow applicable customer site safety requirements, OSHA guidelines, and laboratory or facility-specific procedures as required.\nComplete required safety training assignments on time.\nPhysical Requirements:\nRegular presence in active laboratory environments, including areas with biological, chemical, electrical and cryogenic hazards.\nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment for extended periods.\nAbility to kneel, bend, reach and work in confined equipment spaces.\nOccasional lifting up to 25 kilograms with appropriate assistance or equipment.\nTravel approximately 10 to 20 percent, covering assigned satellite locations, OEM training, the paired hub site and program meetings. Travel is higher for sole-engineer assignments, to keep the paired technical relationship and attend program activity in person.\nClassification:\nFLSA: Non-Exempt\n**Note: This position description does not list every activity, duty, and responsibility of the position and may be altered by RENOVO at any time.\nEEO Statement\nRENOVO Solutions provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment...","description_format":"text","description_chars":12811,"description_truncated":true,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":4,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"associate","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Biotechnology","Hospitals & Health Systems","Laboratory Equipment"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-22T10:24:23Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 1","filings_12m":1,"filings_prev_12m":0,"green_card_filings_12m":0,"median_offered_wage_usd":157500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T11:24:14+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":95,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.946,"p_room":1,"age_days":6,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["conf:1","wave","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-29T05:49:05Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/renovo-solutions-life-science-engineer-level-2-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/renovo-solutions-life-science-engineer-level-2-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-29T09:23:36Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":14266,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-30T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2284366},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2284366"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Frenovo-solutions-life-science-engineer-level-2-2"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Frenovo-solutions-life-science-engineer-level-2-2"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Frenovo-solutions-life-science-engineer-level-2-2"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/renovo-solutions-life-science-engineer-level-2-2\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Frenovo-solutions-life-science-engineer-level-2-2"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3074558}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"renovo1.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3074558},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
