The Software Development Engineer in Test is responsible for architecting new automated test strategies and frameworks in addition to creating, testing, and planning for both manual and automated test frameworks to optimize the testing of complex web and mobile applications. This role must demonstrate innovation, leadership, and mentorship skills in addition to possessing a strong technical and programming/test automation skill set. The Software Development Engineer in Test delivers creative and innovative solutions to support the development team through planning and prioritization of test design, test development, and test automation activities to be accomplished within an Agile methodology or other methodologies in support of a Continuous Delivery Pipeline with frequent application releases.\n\nPRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:\nCoaches and mentors Software Test Engineers in the execution of automated testing efforts.\n\nLeads effort to review product specifications and work with others to develop appropriate test strategies, detailed test plans, and test architectures.\n\nLeads formal reviews of test plans, designs, and requirements with cross-functional teams.\n\nParticipates in the evaluation of new tools and technologies to continue enhancing the automation framework.\n\nResearches, develops and/or recommends tools to assist Software Test Engineers in test planning, execution, and reporting.\n\nDevelops, debugs, and maintains test automation for applications and services.\n\nDevelops, implements, and automates test plans and test cases in an Agile environment.\n\nBuilds, executes, and maintains automated test frameworks for end to end integration testing across applications, devices, and platforms using JavaScript or other appropriate languages such as C#, Java, and TypeScript.\n\nBuilds automation and test coverage tools using JavaScript or other appropriate languages to enable Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.\n\nBuilds or uses existing automation tools to test interfaces between systems and applications such as web services, Tibco services, or other APIs.\n\nAccountable for all aspects of quality within the software development team.\n\nTracks and prioritizes defects throughout product releases and lifecycles.\n\nUses quality control tools and metrics to discover defects and make recommendations for resolution. \n\nReport defects found through test automation.\n\nWorks with Agile teams or other IT teams to plan, estimate, schedule and execute testing for applications including:\nEstablishes, organizes and executes testing deliverables.\n\nDocuments and executes complex software test plans and strategies.\n\nEnsures traceability of test cases back to project requirements.\n\nExecutes end to end test scenarios.\n\nCoordinates and supports user-acceptance test plans.\n\nWorks with an Agile team or other IT teams to report and resolve complex issues.\n\nEnsures software applications meet functional requirements.\n\nParticipates in all aspects of testing at all levels, including functional, system, regression and load testing.\n\nWorks collaboratively with Software Test Engineers and Developers.\n\nTests manually, as needed.\n\nRecords and reports on testing metrics.\n\nFollows test documentation standards and makes updates as necessary.\n\nPerforms other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nExperience with software automation testing methodologies including regression, functional, unit, integration, coverage, performance and load.\n\nExperience testing applications that integrate with other systems through RESTful API's.\n\nExperience with test management tools such as qTest, ALM, TFS, or similar tools.\n\nExperience with API testing frameworks such as Karate, Gatling, JMeter, or Postman.\n\nSome experience with load and performance testing.\n\nKnowledge of Cloud platforms and services such as Amazon AWS, Azure, Heroku, Perfecto Mobile, and SauceLabs.\n\nExperience in reviewing and providing feedback to team members during pull requests.\n\nUnderstanding of Service Oriented Architecture.\n\nStrong critical thinking skills.\n\nExcellent written and verbal skills. \n\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:\n2 - 4 years of software test experience with test automation and a focus on web, mobile, database, or web services.\n\nExperience in Agile software development methodology using tools such as Rally, Jira, ServiceNow, or similar tools.\n\nAdvanced understanding of open-source web frameworks and web application testing tools.\n\nRewarding Compensation and BenefitsEligible employees can elect to participate in:\n• Comprehensive medical benefits coverage, dental plans and vision coverage.\n• Health care and dependent care spending accounts. \n• Short- and long-term disability.• Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment insurance.\n• Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP).\n• Employee discount programs.\n• Retirement plan with a generous company match.\n• Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).• Paid Time Off (PTO)• Benefits \n• Washington PTO:\nThe statements used herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by an employee in this position, and are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required by an incumbent so classified.
