{"id":3001554,"url":"https://alion.io/job/resbank-1911-application-security-specialist-x2-bstd","title":"(1911) Application Security Specialist x2 - BSTD","company":{"id":1781283,"name":"Resbank","domain":"resbank.co.za","url":"https://alion.io/company/resbank","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Oracle","truth_index":null},"role":"Security","role_family":"Security","seniority":"senior","employment_type":null,"work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Pretoria, South Africa"],"countries":["ZA"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":null,"salary_estimate":{"min_usd":25000,"max_usd":58000,"period":"year","method":"global_role_cell_scaled_by_country","sample_n":2225},"experience_years_min":5,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"AWS","optional":false},{"name":"Azure","optional":false},{"name":"GCP","optional":false},{"name":"Python","optional":false}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-21T08:18:16Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-21","last_verified_at":"2026-10-24T10:01:13Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":3,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":3},"description":"Brief description\nThe main purpose of this position is to facilitate and implement application security throughout the system development life cycle to ensure secure, resilient and scalable applications for the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).\nDetailed description\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:\nConduct security assessments, including code reviews, vulnerability scans and penetration testing, to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.\n\nCollaborate with development teams to integrate security best practices into the system development life cycle, including threat modelling, secure coding and security testing.\n\nDesign and implement application security controls, frameworks and policies to protect against emerging threats.\n\nIdentify security risks and vulnerabilities, analyse their impact and engage relevant stakeholders, including governance bodies and product owners, on relevant security solutions, and drive and monitor their implementationto mitigate and remediate security vulnerabilities.\n\nParticipatein application security audits through the provision of relevant information, respond to and address security-related audit findings to reduce the SARB’s threat landscape and improve its application security posture.\n\nParticipatein information technology (IT) security projects as the application security subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with security standards during each stage of the project development life cycle.\n\nEngagewith the larger security community to gain new knowledge and adopt new security capabilities within the SARB’s IT security environment.\n\nParticipatein the evaluation and implementation of security tools and technologies, including static and dynamic code analysis, vulnerability scanning and confidentiality management.\n\nStay abreast of the latest security trends, vulnerabilities and attack techniques, and proactively apply this knowledge to improve the SARB’s security practices.\n\nImplementmajor security incident response procedures during a security breach by investigating, reporting and providing recommendations to ensure the continuous improvement of security measures and avoid recurrence.\n\nDeveloptraining material and deliver application security trainingto all key stakeholders, including developers, testers and business analysts, in support of applications and integration security awareness campaigns.\n\nPresentperiodic reports and analytics pertaining to the security landscape surrounding the designated business applications.\n\nJob requirements\nTo be considered for this position, candidates must have:\na bachelor’s degree in IT (NQF 7) or an equivalent qualification;\n\na Certified Applications Security Engineer qualification;\n\na Certified Ethical Hacker qualification;\n\nat least five to eight years’ experience in system development life cycle frameworks and solutions, of which at least three years in overall security governance best practice, frameworks and design, with hands-on experience in security tools such as DAST, SAST and SCA; and\n\nany additional security certifications, for example Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Secure Software Life Cycle Professional, Offensive Security Certified Professional or GIAC Web Application Penetration Tester, will be an advantage.\n\nAdditional requirements include:\nknowledge and skills in;\n\ncybersecurity, governance, risk and compliance;\n\nindustry, organisational and business awareness;\n\nquality assurance;\n\ncontinuous improvement;\n\ncontinual learning and professional development;\n\ncollaboration;\n\nsystem development life cycle design, testing and development;\n\napplication support and maintenance;\n\ncloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and their security features;\nscripting languages, including Bash and Python, and automation frameworks;\n\nnetwork security, encryption and identity management;\n\nIT enablement reporting;
