As a skilled mechanic, the Technician IV self-directs day-to-day maintenance priorities based on equipment condition and business need, balancing immediate repair demands against longer-term reliability improvements, and makes independent technical decisions within the maintenance discipline. The role ensures equipment reliability and compliance with safety and quality standards in a regulated environment, and requires a strong technical background, hands-on experience with industrial equipment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.\nJob Responsibilities\nPreventive & Predictive Maintenance\nMaintain, test, evaluate, and inspect critical equipment and systems to provide a safe and reliable facility infrastructure, including daily operational checks such as lubrication, inspection, cleaning, and functional testing\n\nConduct scheduled maintenance and predictive checks on production equipment, including but not limited to pumps, autoclaves, part washers, filling and capping machines, exhaust fans, Clean Utility systems, and HVAC systems\n\nDetermine maintenance priorities based on equipment history, condition monitoring, and production schedules; drive work order prioritization and scheduling of preventive and corrective tasks to optimize equipment uptime and operational efficiency\n\nTroubleshooting, Repair & Reliability\nMonitor and respond to system failures, alarms, and abnormal site conditions by taking appropriate preventive and corrective actions; diagnose and repair mechanical and control system issues to minimize downtime and maintain continuous operation of the cGMP manufacturing facility\n\nApply internal procedures, industry standards, and manufacturer specifications to inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot production, measuring, and test equipment; resolve issues independently and escalate those falling outside established procedures\n\nInspect third-party repairs and rebuilds for adherence to requirements and quality of work\n\nIdentify recurring failure modes and propose and implement improvements to equipment performance, reliability, and safety; lead or participate in projects to upgrade machinery or processes\n\nCompliance, Documentation & Safety\nDocument all maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, and modification activities accurately in work orders and maintenance records, and complete work orders in accordance with cGMP and SOPs\n\nEnsure all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with cGMP, company policies, safety standards, and SOPs\n\nFollow all safety protocols, perform risk assessments, and support initiatives to promote a safe working environment, including compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations\n\nExperience & Education\nMinimum Qualifications\nProgressive and substantial hands-on industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment\n\nDemonstrated troubleshooting capability across the following systems:\nMechanical: pumps, motors, mechanical seals, pneumatic systems, HVAC and mechanical equipment, bearings, belts, couplings, and alignment\n\nElectrical: single- and three-phase systems, VFDs, transformers, relays and overloads, and control circuits; ability to read electrical schematics and use a multimeter and other electrical test equipment\n\nInstrumentation and controls: PLC input/output troubleshooting, basic PLC diagnostics, sensors, transmitters and switches, 4-20 mA and 0-10 V signals, proximity and photoelectric sensors, control panels, and HMI troubleshooting\n\nStrong organizational and communication skills\n\nPositive and flexible approach in responding to demanding operational situations\n\nProven ability to manage multiple concurrent and shifting priorities, and to independently determine work sequence and technical approach within the maintenance discipline\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n2-year diploma or certificate in Electrical, Electromechanical, Instrumentation, Automation, or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience\n\n5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment\n\nIndustrial Millwright (433A) license, or equivalent working experience in a maintenance field\n\nIndustrial Electrician (442A) license\n\nExperience with processing, filling, and packaging equipment\n\nExperience in a cGMP environment and calibration awareness\n\nWorking knowledge of safety procedures, LOTO, and electrical safety\n\nAbility to work from P&IDs, electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals\n\nPhysical & Work Environment\nPhysical demands may include standing for extended periods, crouching/squatting, ability to lift up to 20kg (44lbs), and working in cleanroom environments with appropriate gowning requirements, including the use of a respirator as required.\n\nWork Schedule\nWeekday Afternoon with Weekend Continental Night Shift (8/8/12/12)\nThe work schedule listed reflects the employee’s expected schedule at the time of hire.
