As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will design, develop, prototype and test motorized blowers and their components, turning engineering requirements into robust designs that can be manufactured at scale.\nYour key deliverables will include mechanical specifications, tolerance analyses, layouts, engineering drawings, technical proposals, test protocols and verification evidence. You will guide project work, mentor junior colleagues and bring sound engineering judgement to decisions that affect product fit, form and function.\nThis is a hybrid role in Calabasas, California.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign motorized blower systems, components and assemblies for new products and improvements to existing products.\nDefine mechanical specifications that support reliable manufacture and confirm that designs meet product requirements.\nProduce mechanical designs, tolerance analyses, layouts and engineering drawings using established document and change-control processes.\nBuild and evaluate prototypes, then plan and execute engineering tests for blowers and related components.\nAnalyse test data, document findings and communicate clear recommendations through reports and technical proposals.\nAuthor and execute protocols for product testing, verification and validation against defined requirements and specifications.\nAssess design risks and potential effects on product fit, form and function, using structured risk-management methods and FMEA.\nCollaborate with Systems Engineering to quantify how blower-level risks may affect the downstream flow generator.\nApply engineering principles across motor design, rotor and structural dynamics, acoustics, vibration, machine design, fluid dynamics, statistics, numerical methods and engineering economics.\nLead project-team activities, provide technical direction and formally mentor or train junior engineers.\nWork across manufacturing, quality, operations, procurement, supplier alliance and customer groups to gather input and ensure designs are appropriate for their intended requirements.\nContribute to the development and refinement of manufacturing processes for the product.\nUse root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods to investigate technical issues and support sound design decisions.\nPerform other related duties as required to support the team’s development priorities.\nWhat You Bring\nTertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.\nExpertise with plastic-part design and design for plastic injection moulding.\nAbility to use Creo or Pro/E CAD software and PDM or Intralink.\nExperience with risk management and FMEA.\nExperience working with controlled documents, engineering change processes, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.\nAbility to apply statistical analysis techniques, including the use of Minitab or JMP.\nFamiliarity in root-cause analysis and recognised structured problem-solving methods.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings to peers and management.\nNice to have\nUnderstanding of manufacturing operations, the product development lifecycle or the broader Resmed business.\nKnowledge of motors, rotary components, sound, noise and vibration theory, testing equipment and data analysis.\nExperience with FEA software such as ANSYS, high-volume manufacturing or a highly regulated industry, preferably medical devices.\nWhat Sets You Apart\nSound judgement: You weigh evidence, risk and product requirements before recommending a path forward.\nConstructive leadership: You give clear direction, share knowledge and help junior colleagues build confidence and capability.\nCollaborative approach: You seek input from different functions and turn varied perspectives into practical engineering decisions.\nAdaptability: You respond calmly when technical priorities shift and remain focused on the quality of the outcome.\nPositive challenge: You raise concerns directly, handle disagreement respectfully and work towards solutions that protect the product and the customer.\nOwnership: You work with a high level of autonomy, follow through on commitments and communicate issues early.\nWhy Join Resmed\nAt Resmed, your engineering work contributes to technology designed to help people breathe better and live healthier, longer lives. This role offers the chance to shape motorized blower products from design through testing and validation, while working with specialists across engineering and the wider business. You will have meaningful technical scope, opportunities to guide others and a clear connection between your decisions and the performance of products used in healthcare.\nBenefits and Compensation\nAt Resmed, we're shaping the future by investing in our people through competitive pay, flexible work arrangements, and programs that support personal and professional growth.\nBenefits (employees regularly scheduled to work 30+ hours per week) include:\nMedical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance\nHSA, FSA, commuter benefits, and sleep care management\n401(k), ESPP, EAP, and tuition assistance\n15 days PTO in the first year for hourly employees / FTO for salaried employees\n11 paid holidays plus 3 floating holidays\nUp to 14 weeks primary caregiver leave or 2 weeks secondary caregiver leave\nCompensation: Compensation is based on factors including geographic location, qualifications, experience, skills, and internal equity.\nPay Range: $147,000 - $184,000 USD annually\nResmed generally does not hire at or near the top of the pay range. For remote positions outside the U.S., compensation is determined based on geographic location, qualifications, experience, and skills.\nJoining us is more than saying “yes” to making the world a healthier place.
