With deep operational expertise and the confidence of donors and partners, we enable lasting solutions to rise.\nPosition Summary:The Technology Operations Director is responsible for ensuring RLF, FBF, and SAF have the technology, operations, and systems needed to support their missions. \nReporting to the Chief of Staff and Operations and serving as a member of the leadership team, the Technology Operations Director provides strategic leadership over information technology and cybersecurity, with a particular focus on building a vision for and moving large-scale technology and systems projects from concept to completion. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to the organization and its fiscally sponsored projects, bringing an operational and technology lens to organizational decision-making. They balance innovation, flexibility, and speed with security, discipline, and care, helping RLF grow and deliver complex grantmaking and fiscal sponsorship services, support a “remote-first” staff, and achieve programmatic outcomes. \nThis is a full-time, exempt position that can be performed remotely within the U.S. Travel is required quarterly for meetings, conferences, and staff retreats. \nDuties Include:Technology & Systems Leadership \nServe as the organization's lead on major technology and systems initiatives.\n\nDevelop and align long-term technology and operational goals and projects with organizational objectives and strategy; build the roadmaps, timelines, and change-management plans needed to deliver them.\n\nServe as a cross-functional partner to other directors and fiscally sponsored project staff in selecting and utilizing tech platforms. \n\nManage technology to support evolving business needs; maintain knowledge of emerging trends and tools to enhance productivity.\n\nIdentify new operational system needs, including systems and processes to support connectivity in a remote-first workplace.\n\nManage information technology contractors and support services.\n\nOversee CRM/database (Salesforce) design, maintenance, and management, in partnership with the Director of Grants Management and the Director of Development.\n\nAdvance the technological fluency of staff. \n\nCybersecurity and Risk Management \nDevise security policies, procedures, hardware, and software solutions to mitigate cybersecurity and other enterprise risks. \n\nDrive data privacy compliance and business continuity/disaster recovery planning. \n\nAdvise organizational leadership on technology strategy, operational risk, and resource allocation. \n\nIn compliance with RLF policies and procedures, perform technological tasks necessary for the protection of data.\n\nFacilities Oversight \nOversee staff managing the RLF satellite office in Sacramento and approximately five additional leases. \n\nOversee staff managing co-working locations. \n\nPlay a supportive role on staff retreats and other in-person connections. \n\nIn collaboration with Human Resources, oversee RLF's health and safety programs. \n\nLeadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration\nProvide oversight and management of RLF's technology and operations budget. \n\nServe as a member of the organizational Leadership Team.\n\nBuild strong working relationships across the organization to ensure technology and operational solutions serve the varied needs of each team.\n\nAct as a trusted advisor and translator between technical/operational teams and non-technical staff and leadership.\n\nQualifications:Note: These qualifications are guidelines, not hard and fast rules, so if you have 75% of the qualifications listed, we encourage you to apply. Applying gives you the opportunity to be considered.\n\n10+ years leading and managing technology and/or operations teams, with at least 5 years in a director-level or above role; nonprofit or mission-driven sector experience preferred. \n\nDemonstrated ability to move complex technology and systems projects from planning through implementation and adoption (e.g., ERP, CRM/Salesforce, financial systems, infrastructure migrations) at organizations of comparable size (50–200 staff) or larger.\n\nExperience leading the development and implementation of an organization-wide cybersecurity/data protection policy, with direct experience managing security incidents, vendor risk assessments, and compliance with relevant data protection standards.\n\nHands-on experience evaluating and implementing enterprise software platforms, including grants management systems or other CRMs; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.\n\n3+ years experience preferred working with a fiscal sponsor organization or comparable multi-entity structure, with direct exposure to how technology, operations, and facilities needs vary across sponsored projects with distinct programs, funding sources, and compliance requirements.\n\nExperience managing vendor relationships/contracts (IT, real estate, professional services) with demonstrated negotiation outcomes.\n\nExperience directly supervising staff and teams.\n\nAbility to handle sensitive personnel or organizational matters. \n\nExperience presenting to or advising senior leadership/board-level audiences.\n\nExperience operating in a remote-first or hybrid and growth-stage organization.\n\nA commitment to a work environment free from discrimination, where all team members feel welcomed, valued, and respected.\n\nPositive attitude and a commitment to being part of and building a positive work environment.\n\nCommitment to Nondiscrimination: We are committed to providing a work environment free from discrimination, where all team members feel valued, respected, and included.
