This position offers an excellent opportunity for students interested in structural drafting, BIM modeling, and design support to gain real-world experience within a growing North American engineering consulting firm.\nThis hands-on internship is within RESPEC’s Facilities (Structural) Market Sector and focuses on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and structural drafting support. The intern will work closely with structural engineers and designers to assist with the development and coordination of structural models and construction documents.\nUnder the guidance of experienced staff, the intern will receive mentoring and exposure to professional consulting services, interdisciplinary collaboration, and real project workflows. Responsibilities may include:\nAssist in developing and maintaining structural BIM models using software such as Revit under the guidance of senior staff\nSupport the preparation of structural drawings, details, and model-based documentation for various project phases\nCoordinate with structural engineers and BIM technicians to incorporate design changes and redlines into models\nPerform basic model checks to help identify clashes, inconsistencies, or missing information\nOrganize and manage BIM files in accordance with company standards and project requirements\nExtract quantities, schedules, and basic model data as needed to support engineering tasks\nParticipate in coordination meetings and gain exposure to multidisciplinary workflows (structural, architectural, MEP)\nFollow established BIM standards, templates, and best practices while learning industry workflows\n Currently pursuing an associate’s degree in drafting, architectural/structural engineering technology, or a related field\nInterest in structural design and BIM workflows\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCoursework or experience related to structural drafting or BIM\nProficiency or working knowledge of Autodesk Revit; AutoCAD experience a plus\nStrong attention to detail and organizational skills\nAbility to manage time effectively and meet deadlines\nStrong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn\nEffective verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment\n Compensation: Compensation depends on experience.
