Every employee at Revolution Space works on projects that are critical to our company’s future by ensuring our products work on orbit every time.\nPosition Summary:\nRevolution Space is looking for a dynamic and growth-oriented Systems Engineer to contribute to the full live cycle development of our space propulsion products from customer requirements through mission operations. This engineer is expected to integrate with the existing technical team to:\nInterface with customers and define the mission operations concept and product requirements for a variety of spacecraft and missions\nLead multidisciplinary technical teams to define space system program architecture and interfaces\nServe as the interface between program management and the technical team\nCreate, manage, and verify space system program level requirements\nCapture and develop open design trades required to integrate our products onto a variety of spacecraft and missions.\nAdditionally, the engineer is expected to provide cross-disciplinary technical knowledge to program teams and directly contribute to the development of revolutionary electrospray propulsion systems while confirming the integration of complex mechanical, electrical, software, and fluid systems.\nThe ideal candidate will have a multi-disciplinary background and experience working with space systems in all phases from concept to operations. They will have a balance of breadth across all engineering disciplines, and depth in select areas such as: space systems engineering, propulsion systems, mechanical or electrical design, satellite operations, thermofluids, requirements verification and validation, and data analysis. The candidate will develop interdisciplinary requirements and bridge the gap between hardware and software teams to ensure they are met.\nThe position is full-time remote and available to be filled immediately.\nResponsibilities:\nResponsibility for the overall system architecture, including all components and interfaces.\nSupporting integration of Revolution Space’s thrusters onto customer spacecraft.\nLeading technical teams to meet program objectives.\nSupporting technical business development activities.\nInterfacing with customers to define requirements and concepts to meet needs.\nCoordinating with discipline engineers to define and manage technical requirements.\nDefining system-level requirements, tracking them throughout a program, and ensuring that they are verified through testing.\nCreate and gain approval for requirement deviations and waivers developed with the discipline engineering team.\nDeveloping Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs).\nCoordinating and planning for in-space operations.\nServing as a technical point of contact for customers wanting to expand their space mobility capabilities with Revolution Space’s thrusters.\nDeveloping Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Propulsion System User Guides.\nCoordinating with discipline engineers to define open trade studies and follow through mitigation approaches to achieve closure.\nCoordinate with Systems Engineering team to properly define design and implementation options.\nDevelop understanding of spacecraft electric propulsion constraints and operational needs.\nDocument status of technical challenges and results of trade studies.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or related STEM field\n15+ years of space systems development experience\nKnowledge of spacecraft/satellite needs and requirements\nKnowledge of space industry standards, protocols, and constraints related to flight and ground system development\nExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong focus on quality and reliability\nStrong communication and documentation skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering disciplines\nAbility to excel in a fast-paced environment\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or similar\nExperience designing and analyzing space systems\nPrevious experience developing flight or ground systems for space\nExperience with space system test sequences (acceptance, qualification, etc.)\nExperience with spacecraft/satellite mission planning and/or operations\nElectric or chemical space propulsion experience\nBenefits\nPaid holidays, sick time and unmetered vacation\nExcellent health and dental plans with 80% employer contribution\n4% company matching 401k with immediate vesting\nLife insurance\nVoluntary Long term / Short term disability\nTo conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanents residents of the U.S., or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or any other protected factor.\nIn Massachusetts, job postings should address requirements for reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities in accordance with the Massachusetts Fair Employment Practices Act (M.G.L. c. 151B) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
