From prenatal screening before birth to newborn screening shortly after birth and whole genome sequencing through one’s lifetime. Our goal is to provide valuable and insightful information about potential underlying genetic conditions, guiding patients and providers to improved health outcomes.\nWe are seeking a Advanced Clinical Laboratory Technologist at our Pittsburgh state-of-the-art omics laboratory to perform clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.\nThe working hours are Monday - Friday from 7 AM - 3 PM.\nJob Purpose:\nPerform various assays on human dried blood spot specimens. Specimens are organized, handled, and processed. Results are evaluated.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nPrepares specimens for analysis and organizes tests to be performed.\nPerforms clinical testing according to standard operating procedures, related to specimen handling, processing, and test analyses.\nAccesses and handles protected health information (PHI) according to laboratory policies and procedures and in a manner consistent with federal regulations.\nPrepares and properly labels reagents required for laboratory testing.\nPerforms general laboratory duties such as glassware cleaning, reagent making, etc.\nVerifies proper instrument function by checking and calibrating laboratory instruments and documents data.\nMaintains legible work records.\nMaintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.\nAdheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities.\nFollows the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the lab established acceptable levels of performance.\nPays careful attention to detail during all laboratory tasks.\nFollows instructions from Supervisors, and all Leadership. \nMaintains a clean and orderly work area.\nPerforms all job duties in a manner consistent with, laboratory, CLIA, CAP and local regulations. \nMaintains good communication with leadership, team members and customers. \nFollows safety, security, and the environment in all aspect of the daily activities and report any potential safety hazards to Supervisors; address them immediately if possible.\nUnderstands ergonomic relationship between people, equipment and working environment. \nThe list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be substituted as necessary.\nQualifications:\nBachelors in Science required\n2+ years clinical laboratory experience.\nApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.\nWorking Conditions: describe office, loading dock, lab environment, include shifts and any travel:\nClinical and research lab environment; exposure to blood borne pathogens; must wear protective lab gear including mask, lab coat, gloves and completely closed footwear.\nEmployee may be requested to work shifts other than daylight depending on the needs of the laboratory. Weekend rotation may be required.\nTravel is not required.\nPhysical Requirements:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use a keyboard and mouse, type, and occasionally move to other parts of the lab. Must have manual dexterity to use lab equipment. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.\nCompensation:\nThe base salary range for this full-time position is $26/hr - $28/hr. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
