Join our Product & Process Improvement (PPI) team as an Associate Scientist and put your chemistry skills to work where they truly matter.\nYour Opportunity to Shine\nAt the heart of this role is applied chemistry. You'll be working with liquid purification components - calculating, formulating, and scaling solutions that meet precise scientific specifications. You will be the person who understands why a buffer behaves the way it does, and how to adjust it when requirements change.\nAs an Associate Scientist, you will collaborate closely with our (Senior) Staff Scientists, production teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate chemistry into reliable, scalable, real-world outcomes.\nWhat You'll Actually Be Doing\nFormulating and calculating with precision: computing molar masses, pH, conductivity, and density conversions for liquid purification components, from small lab-scale batches right through to reactor-scale volumes of up to 1,000 kg\nAdapting chemistry to meet evolving requirements: modifying buffer and solution compositions in response to product, process, or raw material changes, ensuring scientific integrity is maintained throughout\nScaling up with confidence: translating lab-scale chemistry into production-ready processes, understanding how chemical behaviour changes at scale and mitigating risks accordingly\nDriving continuous improvement: applying Six Sigma methodologies to identify and reduce inefficiencies in chemical preparation and purification processes\nDocumenting your chemistry: drafting and maintaining SOPs, technical work instructions, and supporting documentation that accurately capture formulation logic and procedural steps\nCollaborating on raw material challenges: working with Procurement to evaluate alternative raw materials and assess their chemical suitability as direct replacements\nWorking safely with hazardous materials: applying rigorous safety practices and supporting compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality standards\nAbout You\nEssential:\nUniversity degree (WO) or applied sciences degree (HBO) in (Bio-)Chemistry, Chemistry\nCompletion of Six Sigma / Green Belt training\nDemonstrable hands-on experience in solution preparation: mixing reagents, calculating molar masses, adjusting pH and conductivity, and working with density-based volume-to-mass conversions\nConfidence in modifying chemical formulations in response to specification changes or raw material substitutions\nStrong English and Dutch proficiency, written and spoken\nPreferred:\nExperience scaling chemical processes from lab-scale to production-scale\nFamiliarity with controlled documentation environments and translating chemistry into production-ready
