This role sits at the intersection of operations, science, and commercial delivery-playing a critical role in enabling innovation, ensuring supply continuity, and driving business performance.\nSummary\nThis role is accountable for defining and executing end-to-end procurement and sourcing strategy across instruments and reagents, ensuring alignment with business priorities, operational requirements, and regulatory standards.\nThe Senior Procurement Manager will own supplier strategy, drive commercial value, and ensure resilient, high-performing supply chains across a complex, matrixed environment. This includes leadership of procurement activities, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and delivering measurable impact across cost, quality, risk, and growth.\nThe role requires strong strategic leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to operate effectively across global and local interfaces, balancing enterprise priorities with site-specific needs.\nKey Responsibilities:\nStrategic Procurement Leadership\nDefine and execute procurement and category strategies across instrument hardware and reagent supply chains, aligned to business and operational objectives\n\nEstablish and drive long-term supplier strategies, including selection, segmentation, and performance management\n\nAct as a strategic partner to Operations, R&D, and Commercial teams to enable business growth and innovation\n\nSupplier & Category Ownership\nOwn end-to-end supplier lifecycle management, including selection, qualification, contracting, and performance optimisation\n\nDevelop and maintain strategic supplier partnerships to enhance capability, innovation, and long-term value\n\nLead sourcing strategies across both capital equipment and consumables/reagents, recognising differing lifecycle and regulatory requirements\n\nSupply Continuity & Risk Management\nEnsure robust supply continuity for critical materials across global operations\n\nDesign and implement risk mitigation strategies, including dual sourcing, inventory strategies, and contingency planning\n\nProactively monitor external market dynamics and translate into actionable supply chain strategies\n\nCommercial & Financial Impact\nDeliver measurable value through cost optimisation, total cost of ownership (TCO), and supplier negotiations\n\nContribute to margin improvement, working capital optimisation, and revenue enablement through effective sourcing strategies\n\nLeverage data and analytics to inform decision-making and drive performance\n\nNew Product Introduction & Innovation\nPartner with R&D and Manufacturing to support new product introduction (NPI) from early development through to full-scale production\n\nIdentify opportunities to leverage supplier capabilities, drive innovation, and optimise make vs buy decisions\n\nSupport M&A and due diligence activities, providing insight into supply chain risks and opportunities\n\nProcess Excellence & Continuous Improvement\nDrive procurement and supply chain process improvements, including standardisation, efficiency, and scalability\n\nContribute to broader global procurement initiatives, ensuring alignment and adoption across sites\n\nPromote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence\n\nStakeholder & Matrix Leadership\nOperate effectively within a complex, matrixed organisation, influencing stakeholders across global, regional, and site levels\n\nBalance local operational needs with global strategy and governance frameworks\n\nLead and develop procurement capability, fostering collaboration and high performance\n\nCompliance & Regulatory\nEnsure all procurement activities comply with ISO, regulatory, and company standards within a highly regulated environment\n\nMaintain robust processes to support audit readiness and quality requirements\n\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Science, or related discipline\n\nSignificant experience in procurement within a biotech, diagnostics, or life sciences environment\n\nDemonstrated experience across instrument hardware and/or reagent/consumables sourcing\n\nProven track record of delivering commercial value and supply chain resilience\n\nStrong negotiation and supplier management expertise\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced degree (MS or equivalent) in a relevant discipline\n\nExperience operating in a global, matrixed organisation\n\nKnowledge of instrument hardware and reagent supplier markets\n\nExperience with ERP / MRP systems (e.g. Infor, MS Dynamics, SAP)\n\nStrong analytical capability and data-driven decision making\n\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills\n\nAdditional European language skills (e.g. German or French)
