Apply today!\nAbout the role\nThe Transfer Station Operations Supervisor leads the safe, compliant, and efficient daily operation of a Reworld solid waste transfer station. This hands-on leadership role oversees site employees, contracted operators, waste haulers, equipment coordination, and facility housekeeping to ensure reliable waste receipt, transfer, and transportation activities.\nThis position manages a team of approximately eight employees and plays a key role in maintaining a safety-first culture, driving operational performance, and building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will lead frontline operations, improve site performance, partner across operations and maintenance, and help support sustainable waste solutions.\nKey Responsibilities and Activities\nLead the safe and efficient daily operation of a high-volume, state-permitted solid waste transfer station.\nSupervise, coach, train, evaluate, and schedule a team of approximately eight operations employees.\nFoster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.\nEnsure compliance with environmental permits and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.\nMaintain facility readiness, housekeeping standards, and safe work practices.\nCoordinate daily activities involving heavy equipment, waste processing, and transportation operations.\nPartner with Maintenance leadership to ensure equipment availability, repair prioritization, and facility reliability.\nCoordinate with subcontracted waste haulers and transporters to support timely waste movement and processing.\nBuild and maintain productive relationships with customers, vendors, county representatives, facility owners, and other external stakeholders.\nSupport hiring, onboarding, workforce development, and staffing plans for the operations team.\nMonitor operating performance and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities.\nAssist with P&L accountability and business performance initiatives while developing a broader understanding of facility financial management.\nLead safety, infrastructure, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.\nPartner with facility, regional, corporate, finance, and business management teams to achieve operational and strategic goals.\nSupport compliance with operating agreements, customer commitments, and service-level expectations.\nTravel between Reworld operating locations as business needs require.\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.\nMinimum of 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience in industrial, logistics, transportation, transfer station, waste, recycling, material recovery, heavy equipment, construction, or similar operational environment.\nExperience supervising employees in a fast-paced field or industrial operation required.\nExperience working with heavy equipment operations is strongly preferred.\nExperience in solid waste, transfer station, recycling, transportation, logistics, landfill, or industrial operations preferred.\nHydraulic equipment experience preferred; hydraulic certification or licensing is a plus.\nStrong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.\nDemonstrated ability to lead teams, develop employees, and manage performance.\nExperience working with customers, vendors, contractors, or public stakeholders preferred.\nWorking knowledge of budgets, operational reporting, and financial performance metrics preferred.\nP&L experience is a plus but not required.\nStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and operational reporting systems.\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment\nRegular work in an active transfer station environment around heavy equipment, trucks, noise, dust, odors, and moving materials.\nAbility to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot and cold environments.\nAbility to walk the site, inspect operations, and safely navigate industrial work areas.\nMust follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).\nAll Reworld positions require a candidate's ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role while upholding Reworld's Values, including (but not limited to) contributing to a safe and inclusive workplace, delivering results through trust, and building breakthrough capabilities.\nPlease note that Level, Title and/or Salary may be adjusted based on the applicant's experience or skills.\nPay Transparency\nReworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld’s reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable).
