This role serves as the site's environmental subject matter expert and is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, identifying and managing environmental risk, and partnering with site leadership to support responsible and efficient manufacturing operations.\nYou Will Have the Opportunity to Make Great Things Happen!\nEnvironmental Compliance\nLead site environmental compliance programs related to air emissions and permits, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous and universal waste, spill prevention, and chemical management. \nMaintain the site's environmental compliance calendar and ensure required inspections, monitoring, sampling, reporting, and recordkeeping activities are completed accurately and on time. \nEnsure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate environmental requirements, including relevant Kentucky and Louisville requirements. \nManage air compliance activities, including permit-condition tracking, emissions calculations, emissions inventories, VOC reporting, and evaluation of operational changes. \nWaste Management\nOversee hazardous, nonhazardous, and universal waste activities, including waste characterization, labeling, storage, inspections, manifests, vendor coordination, and disposal documentation. \nEnvironmental Reporting & Regulatory Affairs\nPrepare and submit applicable environmental reports, permit applications, and regulatory filings, including EPCRA, Tier II, TRI/Form R, SPCC, stormwater, wastewater, and spill-related requirements. \nServe as the primary site contact for environmental regulatory agencies and support inspections, information requests, permitting activities, and resolution of compliance findings. \nEnvironmental Risk & Corrective Action\nInvestigate spills, releases, permit deviations, exceedances, and other environmental concerns; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed and effective. \nConduct environmental audits, inspections, and risk assessments; track findings and corrective actions through closure. \nOperations & Engineering Partnership\nPartner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and site leadership to integrate environmental requirements into day-to-day manufacturing activities. \nParticipate in Management of Change, capital-project, and process-change reviews to evaluate environmental impacts and permitting requirements before implementation. \nPerformance & Sustainability\nDevelop, analyze, and communicate environmental performance metrics, compliance risks, and improvement priorities to site and business-unit leadership. \nDrive waste reduction, recycling, resource conservation, sustainability, and other continuous improvement initiatives. \nTraining & External Resources\nDevelop and deliver environmental training and provide technical guidance to employees and leaders. \nManage environmental consultants, laboratories, waste vendors, and other third-party service providers as needed.\nYou Will Love It Here If…\nYou listen, learn, and evolve\nYou thrive in a fast-paced environment\nYou put safety first, always\nYou are passionate about collaboration, teamwork, and achieving shared goals\nYou believe in treating all people with respect, operating ethically, and growing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace\nYou are committed to improving our impact on local communities and creating positive experiences \nQualifications\nEducation/Experience\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.\n2-4 years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. \nPreferred\nPE, EIT, CHMM, or similar professional certification. \nExperience in consumer products, packaging, paper, foil, plastics, or high-volume manufacturing. \nFamiliarity with ISO 14001 and sustainability reporting programs\nKnowledge/Skills/Abilities\nWorking knowledge of RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, EPCRA, SPCC, and applicable state and local environmental requirements. \nExperience managing air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, spill-prevention, and environmental reporting programs. \nAbility to interpret permits and regulations and translate requirements into practical operating controls. \nExperience working directly with regulatory agencies and supporting environmental audits and inspections. \nExperience with environmental data management, emissions calculations, compliance calendars, and regulatory recordkeeping. \nDemonstrated ability to lead corrective actions, manage projects, and influence cross-functional manufacturing teams. \nStrong analytical, organizational, project management, and written and verbal communication skills.\nCompetencies\nEnsures Accountability - Establishes clear expectations and follows through to ensure environmental requirements, corrective actions, and commitments are achieved. \nAction Oriented - Acts decisively to address environmental risks, compliance gaps, and operational opportunities. \nCollaborates - Builds effective partnerships across operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership to achieve environmental and business objectives. \nCommunicates Effectively - Conveys technical, regulatory, and environmental information clearly to employees, leaders, and external stakeholders. \nPlans and Aligns - Organizes environmental priorities, projects, and compliance activities to meet regulatory and operational requirements. \nTechnical Learning - Applies and expands environmental expertise to address evolving regulations, manufacturing challenges, and sustainability opportunities.\nWant to know more?
