This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.\nThis is a full-time position with a full benefit package listed below that includes opportunities for professional growth, direct hire by our customers, and additional opportunities within our own organization.\nSoftware Engineer III\nThe Software Engineer will focus on the development of advanced positioning, localization, and state estimation software that supports autonomous and semi-autonomous machine applications. The engineer will design, develop, test, and validate production-quality software that combines inertial sensors, GNSS, perception systems, and filtering algorithms to accurately determine vehicle position and orientation in complex operating environments.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop and maintain production-quality C++ software for localization, positioning, and navigation systems.\nDesign and implement state estimation algorithms utilizing GNSS, inertial sensors, perception systems, and filtering techniques.\nResearch, prototype, and deploy localization solutions for autonomous and semi-autonomous machine applications.\nParticipate in software design, architecture, documentation, validation, testing, and product quality activities.\nSupport functional safety design and software validation processes.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to advance localization technology and mentor less experienced engineers.\nRequirements\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field. \n5+ years of software development experience.\nStrong expertise in C++ and proficiency in Python.\nExperience with State Estimation and Inertial Measurement Technology.\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, and software lifecycle knowledge.\nAbility to identify, analyze, and resolve complex software challenges.\nDesired Attributes\nRobotics or autonomous systems development experience.\nExperience with Kalman Filters, Extended Kalman Filters (EKF), and Error State Filters.\nKnowledge of SLAM, localization frameworks, and graph optimization techniques.\nExperience with ROS (Robot Operating System).\nStrong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, 3D geometry, statistical modeling, and navigation systems.\nUnderstanding of vehicle dynamics, physics-based modeling, and coordinate transformations.\nVisa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.\nPay Range: $80,000 - $100,000 - Commensurate with experience\nAbout RFA Engineering\nRFA Engineering has provided product development and engineering services to industry leading customers since 1943.
